The Singapore Scout Association (SSA) is a Scout Movement, Scout organisation in Singapore. It was formed in 1965 but had origins in 1910. As an organization within a multilingual country, the Association is called in , . History Scouting was first introduced in Singapore in 1908 but was officially founded on 2 July 1910. Frank Cooper Sands who had been a Scoutmaster in Nottingham, England, arrived in Singapore in September 1910 and formed a troop of 30 British boys that registered with The Scout Association, The Boy Scouts Association in the United Kingdom on 2 July 1910. He spent the next 40 years promoting The Boy Scouts Association's Singapore branch. Scouting for local Singapore boys was started in 1919, by Captain N.M. Hashim and A.Z. Alsagoff. Bishan, Singapore
Bishan ( ), also known as Peck San, Bishan New Town or Bishan Town, is a planning area and matured residential town located at the northernmost portion of the Central Region of Singapore. Statistically, the area is ranked the 38th biggest in terms of geographical size and the 22nd most populated planning area in the country. Venture Scout
Venturer or Venture Scouts are programs in some Scouting organisations for young people of various age ranges in the 14–20 age range. A participant in the program is called a Venturer. Australia The Venturer Scout program in Scouts Australia, often just known as Venturers, is a program for young people 15–18 years old as of 2018. The program is flexible, but usually with a strong outdoor flavour. The camps for this section are based on the knowledge learned by a Venturer in the scout section, and many camps are geared towards learning skills for professional and adult life. The highest award that can be earned by a Venturer Scout is the Queen's Scout award. Coney Island, Singapore
Coney Island, alternatively known as Pulau Serangoon, is a 133-hectare island located off the northeastern coast of Singapore within the town of Punggol, between Pulau Ubin to its northeast and the mainland to its southwest. World Scout Jamboree
The World Scout Jamboree is a Scouting Jamboree (Scouting), jamboree of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, typically attended by several tens of thousands of Scouts from around the world, aged 14 to 17. At the jamboree, many scouts swap badges. The first World Scout Jamboree was organized by The Scout Association in London. With exceptions for the World War years and the Iranian Revolution, it has been organized approximately every four years, and in the more recent years has been organised by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), in different locations over the world. Wood Badge is a Scout leader training program, first implemented by The Scout Association, The Boy Scouts Association in the United Kingdom in 1919 and subsequently adopted, with variations, by some other Scout organizations. Wood Badge Course (education), courses teach Scout leadership skills and instil an ideological Human bonding, bond and Personal commitment, commitment to the organizations. Air Scout
Air Scouts are a part of the Scout movement with a particular emphasis on an aviation themed programme and/or flying-based activities. Air Scouts follow the same basic programme as other Scouts, but they devote certain amounts of time focused on their air activities. Air Scouts often wear a slightly different uniform from the rest of the Scouting movement and/or may have additional badges/insignia. Most air activities are ground-based like visits to airports and air museums, radio controlled model flight, aero modelling and camping on airfields.
