Simon Raymonde
Simon Philip Raymonde (born 3 April 1962) is an English musician and record producer. He is the son of the late arranger and composer Ivor Raymonde. He is best known as the bass guitarist and keyboard player with the Scottish band Cocteau Twins from 1983 to 1997. He now runs the Bella Union record label and management company Bella Union Artist Management. Raymonde has acted as producer and mixer on many records, including Clearlake (band), Clearlake's ''Cedars'', James Yorkston's ''Moving Up Country'', the first two albums by John Grant's first band the Czars, three albums by the Duke Spirit including the hit album ''Cuts Across the Land'', Archie Bronson Outfit's "Kangaroo Heart", Anthony Reynolds' "Just So You Know" and The Open (band), the Open's ''Silent Hours''. Bella Union
Bella Union is a British independent record label founded in 1997 by Simon Raymonde and Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins. It is now run solely by Raymonde. History After releasing records with 4AD for a large part of their career, Cocteau Twins decided to start up the Bella Union record label in 1997, through which they could release their own work as well as any collaborative efforts. The band had a difficult relationship with 4AD founder Ivo Watts-Russell and also regretted signing with Universal Music Group's Mercury Records. The band split up not long after, but instead of letting the newly formed label go under, Robin Guthrie, Simon Raymonde and their former manager Fiona Glyn-Jones decided to take charge of it. Fionn Regan
Fionn Regan (born 1981) is an Irish folk musician and singer-songwriter. Born and raised in Bray, Regan came to prominence with the release of his debut studio album, '' The End of History'' in 2006. He had been releasing extended plays for six years on independent record labels prior to the album's release. Regan's second studio album, '' The Shadow of an Empire'' was released in 2010 to positive reviews and his third studio album, '' 100 Acres of Sycamore'', was released in 2011. His fourth studio album, '' The Bunkhouse Vol. 1: Anchor Black Tattoo'', was released in 2012. ''Scott Walker: 30 Century Man'' is a 2006 documentary film about Scott Walker. The film gets its title from the '' Scott 3'' song "30 Century Man". It is directed and co-produced by Stephen Kijak, with Grant Gee serving as director of photography. It charts Walker's career in music, with a focus on his songwriting, and features exclusive footage of recording sessions for his most recent album, ''The Drift'' including a memorable sequence in which Walker oversees the recording of the punching of a joint of pork, for the percussion on the song ''Clara''. Elizabeth Fraser
Elizabeth Davidson Fraser (born 29 August 1963) is a Scottish singer. She was the vocalist for the band Cocteau Twins, who achieved success in the UK from the mid-1980s to the late 1990s. Their studio albums '' Victorialand'' (1986) and '' Heaven or Las Vegas'' (1990) both reached the top ten of the UK Album Charts, while other albums, including '' Blue Bell Knoll'' (1988), '' Four-Calendar Café'' (1993), and '' Milk & Kisses'' (1996), charted on the ''Billboard'' 200 album charts in the United States as well as reaching the top 20 in the UK. This Mortal Coil
This Mortal Coil were a British music collective led by Ivo Watts-Russell, founder of the British record label 4AD. Although Watts-Russell and John Fryer were the only two official members, the band's recorded output featured a large rotating cast of supporting artists, many of whom were otherwise associated with 4AD, including members of Cocteau Twins, Pixies and Dead Can Dance. Situation Two (a.k.a. Situation 2) was a British independent record label founded in 1981 by Peter Kent as an offshoot of the Beggars Banquet label. The name is a reference to Bauhaus's old management company, Situation 1. At the time, Beggars Banquet releases were often distributed by WEA; to appeal to the indie audience and to get releases into the UK Indie Chart, Situation Two, as well as its sister label 4AD (which Kent had co-founded a year earlier with Ivo Watts-Russell, but soon left), were created. Post-punk
Post-punk (originally called new musick) is a broad genre of music that emerged in late 1977 in the wake of punk rock. Post-punk musicians departed from punk's fundamental elements and raw simplicity, instead adopting a broader, more experimental approach that encompassed a variety of avant-garde sensibilities and non-rock influences. Tristeza is an American post-rock band. The band is currently based in Oakland, California, and was established in San Diego in 1997. Biography The group formed in San Diego in 1997, and included Christopher Sprague, Luis Hermosillo, Jimmy LaValle ( The Album Leaf), James Lehner, and Stephen Swesey. This line-up recorded all material that was released through 2003, including the albums ''Spine and Sensory'' (1999) and ''Dream Signals in Full Circles'' (2000). The ''Spine and Sensory'' album was recorded at Tim Green's Louder Studios, a basement studio in San Francisco. It took one week to record and mix the album in the autumn of 1998.
