Simon Martirosyan
Simon Martirosyan (; born 17 February 1997) is an Armenian weightlifter, Olympian, two-time world champion, and two-time European champion competing in the 105 kg category until 2018 and 109 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. Career He held the youth world record for the snatch, the clean and jerk and total in the +94 kg division before weight classes were changed in 2018 nullifying earlier records. He is currently the world record holder in the Total for the −109 kg division. In 2014 Martirosyan competed at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics winning a gold medal in the +85 kg category. Ruslan Shamilevich Nurudinov (; born 24 November 1991) is an Uzbekistani weightlifter of Tatar ethnic origin. He is the first world champion for Uzbekistan in weightlifting (2013). Nurudinov won a gold medal at the 2016 Olympics, setting a new Olympic record in the clean and jerk at 237 kg. International Weightlifting Federation
The International Weightlifting Federation, aka IWF, is the international governing body for the sport of Weightlifting. Headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, it has 193 affiliated national federations. Mohammed Hasan Jalood has been its president since June 2022. The IWF organizes the World Weightlifting Championships, as well as world championship events for Youth and Juniors. It also cooperates with the International Olympic Committee in the organization of Weightlifting events at the Olympic Games; however, weightlifting's inclusion in the 2028 Olympics is uncertain, due to doping issues within the sport, and governance issues within IWF, and weightlifting's inclusion is expected to be decided by an IOC meeting in 2023. Olympic weightlifting, Weightlifting at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 17 to 23 August at the Nanjing International Expo Center in Nanjing, China. Qualification Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) can enter a maximum of 4 competitors, 2 per each gender. As hosts, China was given the maximum quota, but only selected 1 athlete per gender and a further 11 boys and 9 girls was to be decided by the Tripartite Commission, but only 9 boys and 6 girls were selected, the remaining places were reallocated. The remaining 86 places shall be decided by team classification results from qualification events, namely the 2013 World Youth Championships and five continental qualification tournaments.
