Silgar Beach
The Silgar beach is a Galician beach located on the urban coastline of the municipality of Sanxenxo in the province of Pontevedra, Spain. It is 750 metres long and is bordered from end to end by the eponymous promenade. Description The Silgar beach is an urban beach located in the ria of Pontevedra. It is separated from Baltar beach, in the civil parish of Portonovo, by a promontory known as Punta do Vicaño. At its right end is the large marina of Sanxenxo. Silgar is the most touristic beach in Galicia. On this beach, on a rock a few metres from the coast, is the statue of ''Madama'', the work of the artist Alfonso Vilar Lamelas. Access The beach is located in the centre of Sanxenxo, surrounded by a promenade. A beach is a landform alongside a body of water which consists of loose particles. The particles composing a beach are typically made from rock, such as sand, gravel, shingle, pebbles, etc., or biological sources, such as mollusc shells or coralline algae. Sediments settle in different densities and structures, depending on the local wave action and weather, creating different textures, colors and gradients or layers of material. Though some beaches form on inland freshwater locations such as lakes and rivers, most beaches are in coastal areas where wave or current action deposits and reworks sediments. Erosion and changing of beach geologies happens through natural processes, like wave action and extreme weather events. Rías Baixas
The Rías Baixas ( Galician for "Lower Rias") are a series of four estuarine inlets located on the southwestern coast of Galicia, Spain. La Lanzada Beach
The La Lanzada beach (''praia da Lanzada in Galician'') is one of the most famous beaches in Galicia (Spain). It is located in the municipalities of O Grove and Sanxenxo in the province of Pontevedra. The blue flag has been flying there for a long time. Description It is located on the southwestern side of the isthmus that connects the O Grove peninsula to the mainland. Montalvo Beach
The Montalvo beach is a Galician beach located in the municipality of Sanxenxo in the province of Pontevedra, Spain. It is 1000 metres long and 80 metres width at low tide and 20 at high tide and has beautiful views over the Ria de Pontevedra. Description It is a straight beach, located in a semi-rural environment. It is bordered on the left by Punta Montalvo, a natural promontory and scenic viewpoint, and on the right by Punta Paxariñas, which is less pronounced and separates Montalvo beach from Paxariñas beach. The fine white sand forms very gently sloping dunes with sparse vegetation that separate the beach from the nearby pine forest. Areas Beach
The Areas Beach is a Galician beach belonging to the municipality of Sanxenxo in the province of Pontevedra, Spain. It is 700 metres long and is located in the ria de Pontevedra, 15 km from Pontevedra. Description It is an urban straight beach, semi-curved at one end. It is bordered at the eastern end by the small cove of the Deads, with access at low tide, and Punta Cabicastro, with beautiful views over the ria de Pontevedra. The sand is white and fine and it is sheltered from the wind, with calm waters suitable for water sports: water-skiing, sailing, jet-skiing, windsurfing (with a limit of 200 metres to the beach). There is a mooring area for boats. At its eastern end is Punta Areas, which clearly demarcates the inner from the outer ria. Access From Sanxenxo, the coastal road PO-308 towards Pontevedra is taken. Sanxenxo (; in Spanish ''Sangenjo'') is a municipality in Galicia, Spain in the province of Pontevedra. It is situated in the southern part of the O Salnés region 15 kilometres west of the city of Pontevedra and is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, and the estuaries of Pontevedra and Arouca.
