Brandon Silent
Brandon Silent (born 22 January 1973) is a South African former association football, footballer who played at both professional and international levels as a right-sided midfielder and fullback. He was nicknamed "Sgcebezana" (Homunculus) because of his short stature. Career Silent played club football for Orlando Pirates FC, Orlando Pirates, scoring 22 goals in 270 appearances. Silent also earned five caps for the South Africa national football team, South African national side between 1997 and 1998. He played for South Africa at the 1998 African Cup of Nations finals. After he retired from playing in 2003, Silent became a football coach. He has worked as an assistant at FC AK. Charles Silent (January 1, 1842 – December 14, 1918) was a German-born American jurist who served as an associate justice of the Arizona Territorial Supreme Court. After leaving the bench he entered private practice and became one of Los Angeles' leading attorneys. His interest in horticulture led to his involvement in the Los Angeles parks system. Background Silent was born in Baden, Germany, on January 1, 1842. Due to his father's participation in the Revolutions of 1848, his family immigrated to Columbus, Ohio later that year. At the age of twelve, he borrowed some money and left home for New York City. From there he sailed to California, arriving in San Francisco in August 1856. Silent found work in Drytown, California. Tilly who had already been on past musical ventures, on the drums, followed by Marcoz Ferraz on the bass, and lastly Alexandre França on lead guitar. The Silents
The Silents are an Australian psychedelic rock band from Perth, Western Australia. Biography Lloyd Stowe and Jamie Terry began writing and recording songs in 2002, heavily influenced by early sixties psychedelic and beat music. They then began looking for a rhythm section with similar rock’n’roll influences, however with little success. In September 2003, Stowe watched friend Sam Ford’s band perform at a local Perth hotel and after the show asked if both he and drummer Alex Hayes would be interested in joining him and Terry to form a band. In early December 2003 the Silents recorded a three track demo. The name 'The Silents' is taken from Simon and Garfunkel's haunting folk ballad, " The Sound of Silence". The name was also influenced by The Silence, the original name of Marc Bolan's band ' John’s Children', one of the first psychedelic bands in the UK. A silent film is a film without synchronized recorded sound (or more generally, no audible dialogue). Though silent films convey narrative and emotion visually, various plot elements (such as a setting or era) or key lines of dialogue may, when necessary, be conveyed by the use of inter- title cards. The term "silent film" is something of a misnomer, as these films were almost always accompanied by live sounds. During the silent era, which existed from the mid-1890s to the late 1920s, a pianist, theater organist—or even, in larger cities, an orchestra—would play music to accompany the films. Pianists and organists would play either from sheet music, or improvisation. Sometimes a person would even narrate the inter-title cards for the audience. Usually unlike dead air (broadcasting only silence), a station that is dark or silent does not even transmit a carrier signal. Silent Pool is a spring-fed lake at the foot of the North Downs, about east of Guildford in Surrey. The outflow from Silent Pool runs into a second, adjacent, lake, Sherbourne Pond, created in the mid-seventeenth century. In turn the outflow from the Sherbourne Pond feeds the Sherbourne Brook, a tributary of the Tilling Bourne. Geology The Silent Pool Spring is the only major spring source in the scarp slope of the North Downs between the Wey and Mole valleys. It discharges between 1 and 10 megalitres (220,000 to 2.2 million gallons) per day into Silent Pool; and the lake water exhibits a blue opalescence characteristic of chalk spring-fed ponds.
