Sik District
Sik is a district in Kedah, Malaysia. It is largest district in Kedah. Etymology The name of the district was derived from the Arab word "Syed" or "Sheikh" (pronounced as such in Pattani Malay as "Sik" and "Saik"), after the Arab missionaries who spread Islam into the region. History Arab preachers arrived by boat at Lubuk Tok Keramat, Sungai Chepir and set up camp at a field known as Padang Tok Sheikh. This location later developed into a settlement and first "Pondok" in Sik district. The group of preachers is said to be descended from Wan Ibrahim Mekong. Padang Tok Sheikh is now located near Sik Town Mosque and is being developed as the Sik District Religious Office Complex. Muda River
The Muda River () is the longest river in Kedah, Malaysia. Course Sourced in Ulu Muda Forest in Sik region in northeastern Kedah, along the border with Thailand, the river meets the water needs of the states of Kedah and Penang. The river flows through much of Sik region, then entering the Baling region where it meets with the Ketil river, a left-bank tributary, at Kuala Ketil. It then flows westward, passing through the southern suburbs of Kedah's second largest city Sungai Petani, and forming the natural boundary between Kuala Muda District and North Seberang Perai District on the Penangite side. Muhammad Sanusi bin Md Nor (; ; born 4 August 1974) is a Malaysian politician who has served as the 14th Menteri Besar of Kedah since May 2020 and Member of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Jeneri since May 2018.
