Khadijah Sidek
Khatijah Sidek (1918–1982) or Che Khadijah Mohd Sidik was a Malay nationalist and politician during colonial Malaya and the elected leader of the ''Kaum Ibu'' (literally meaning "mother's group"; the section name was later changed to Wanita UMNO) in 1954. She was a key figure in the early history of the United Malay National Organisation (UMNO) and a vocal campaigner of women's rights and the education of girls. Early life and political career Khatijah was born in Pariaman, West Sumatra, Indonesia to a Minangkabau family, known for their matrilineal heritage system. She received her education at a Dutch school in Sumatra before moving to Singapore in 1946 and soon after marrying a Malayan citizen. Sidek Brothers
The Sidek family is a Malaysian family with a significant history within professional badminton. The patriarch of the family was an avid badminton fan, Sidek Abdullah Kamar (1936–2005), who himself was a former player turned senior coach. He started to train his sons from an early age at their house in Banting. As soon as his sons were spotted by Khoo Teng Yuen, a BAM coach, he transferred them to a prestigious secondary school known as Victoria Institution in Kuala Lumpur, where he (Khoo) was based. The training ultimately culminated in regaining the Thomas Cup in 1992 after a lapse of 25 years. The five Sidek brothers, who were also world-class players, began their run of success in the early 1980s. They won titles and medals in major tournaments, including All-England, World Cup, Olympic Games, and many big open tournaments. Mohmed Misbun Mohd Sidek (born 17 February 1960) is a former Malaysian badminton player. He is the eldest of the famous five Sidek brothers. Early life Misbun received his early education in local primary schools which were located in his hometown of Banting and later furthered his studies at Victoria Institution, Kuala Lumpur. Mohd Sidek, his father, had a vision to see his children become badminton aces by training his eldest son, Misbun from an early age. By the age of seven in 1967, Misbun had begun to be seriously trained by his father at the badminton court in front of their house in Kampung Kanchong Darat, Banting, Selangor. Razif Sidek
Mohamed Razif Mohd Sidek (born 29 May 1962) is a former badminton player from Malaysia and coach. Personal life He is the second eldest of the five Sidek brothers. Razif and his siblings gained exposure about badminton sport from their father, Haji Mohd Sidek. Razif Sidek is one of the alumni of Victoria Institution (batch 1975–1980). He is married to a former model, Khalidah Khalid and the couple has five children. In addition, his youngest son, Mohd Fazriq is also active in badminton. Mohamed Jalani Mohd Sidek (born 10 November 1963) is a Malaysian former badminton player and coach. Personal life He is the third eldest of the five Sidek brothers. Jalani and his siblings gained exposure about badminton sport from their father, Haji Mohammed Sidek. In addition, he is also one of the alumnus of Victoria Institution (batch 1977–1982). Abdul Rahman Mohd Sidek (born 20 September 1965) is a former badminton player from Malaysia and coach. Personal life He is the 4th child of the 5 legendary Sidek brothers who represented Malaysia in the sport of badminton internationally. Rahman and his siblings gained exposure about badminton sport from their father, Haji Mohd Sidek. Under the guidance of his father, Rahman and the rest of his siblings were trained to be champions. Furthermore, Rahman is one of the alumnus of Victoria Institution (batch 1979–1984) amongst the batch of Malaysia's prominent sportsmen who also attended that school just like him.
