Sid Watson Award
The Sid Watson Award is an annual award given to the top player in List of NCAA Division III men's ice hockey seasons, NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey. It is given by the American Hockey Coaches Association. It was known as the Division III Men's Player of the Year Award prior to 2005. In 2004, the AHCA voted to rename the Division III Men's Player of the Year after Sid Watson. The award is named for longtime Bowdoin College hockey coach and athletic director Sid Watson, who died in April 2004 at age 71. Watson played four seasons in the NFL before starting his coaching career at Bowdoin in 1958. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the award was not conferred during the 2020–21 NCAA Division III men's ice hockey season, 2021 season. 1999–2000 NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Season
The 1999–2000 NCAA Division III men's ice hockey season began on October 22, 1999 and concluded on March 18 of the following year. This was the 27th season of Division III college ice hockey. Conference and rule changes The NCAA began offering automatic bids for conference tournament champions for the first time. Partly due to this development, ECAC East split into two conferences when the NESCAC began sponsoring ice hockey as a sport and the 9 existing programs left ECAC East to form the new league. Each team in the ECAC East and NESCAC played one another in one game that counted in their respective conference standings. Because the NESCAC now sponsored ice hockey as a varsity sport, the conference dropped the policy that allowed member schools to play in only one postseason tournament. The 1998–99 NCAA Division III men's ice hockey season began in October 1998 and concluded on March 20 of the following year. This was the 26th season of Division III college ice hockey. Division II Findlay joined with 4 Division III schools to form the MCHA. 1997–98 NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Season
The 1997–98 NCAA Division III men's ice hockey season began in October 1997 and concluded on March 21 of the following year. This was the 25th season of Division III college ice hockey. Quinnipiac and Fairfield began the season as members of ECAC North/South/Central, however, because the teams were preparing to be founding members of the MAAC's ice hockey conference the following year they had begun to offer athletic scholarships. Conference rules strictly forbade any athletic scholarships and both schools (in December and February respectively) were ruled ineligible to play in the conference postseason. Additionally, all games played by Fairfield and Quinnipiac would not be counted in the conference standings. Sacred Heart was also excluded from ECAC tournament play for similar reasons. RIT Tigers Men's Ice Hockey
The RIT Tigers men's ice hockey team is a collegiate ice hockey team representing the Rochester Institute of Technology in suburban Rochester, New York, United States. The school's men's team competes in the Division I Atlantic Hockey conference. The team has won two national championships, one each at the Division II and Division III levels. It lost in the semifinals of the Division I "Frozen Four" in 2010. History Founding, Division II and Division III In the fall of 1957, RIT student Jack Trickey founded the Monroe County Amateur Hockey (MCAHA) Association. Steve Toll
Steve Toll (born June 16, 1974 in St. Catharines, Ontario) is a former lacrosse player and current executive in the Canadian Lacrosse League. In his 14-year National Lacrosse League career, Toll won five NLL Championships four with the Toronto Rock and one with the Rochester Knighthawks. He was a transition specialist, and in 2007 was awarded the first ever National Lacrosse League Transition Player of the Year Award. In October 2011, Toll announced that he was retiring from the NLL to become the Director of Operations for the Durham and Oshawa franchises of the new Canadian Lacrosse League (CLax).
