Sicilian Open
The Sicilian Open was a European Tour men's professional golf tournament. It was played for the first time in 2011. The event was held in Sicily at the Donnafugata Golf Resort & Spa. In 2012 the event was held at Verdura Golf & Spa Resort on a links-style course running up to the coastline. After a four-year hiatus, the tournament returned to the European Tour schedule in 2017 and 2018 at Verdura, with Rocco Forte Hotels the title sponsor. As of 2019, the event is no longer held. 2017 European Tour
The 2017 European Tour was the 46th season of the European Tour, the main professional golf tour in Europe since its inaugural season in 1972. Changes for 2017 For the 2017 season, the European Tour created the Rolex Series; a group of selected tournaments with a minimum purse of . Seven tournaments were initially announced: the BMW PGA Championship, the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, the Italian Open and the three former Final Series events; the Turkish Airlines Open, the Nedbank Golf Challenge and the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai. Anthony Wall
Anthony David Wall (born 29 May 1975) is an English professional golfer. Career Wall was born in London. He turned professional in 1995 and has played on the European Tour since 1998. He has made the top 100 on the Order of Merit every season since his rookie year. His only European Tour win to date came at the 2000 Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa. In 2006 he was the leading British player at The Open Championship, finishing in a tie for eleventh place. Also in 2006 achieved his best year-end ranking on the Order of Merit of 13th. In 2011, Wall was in contention to win his first tour level event in 11 years at the Sicilian Open but hit his approach shot on 17 into the water resulting in a double bogey and missing out by one stroke. Raphaël Jacquelin
Raphaël Jacquelin (born 8 May 1974) is a French professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. Career Jacquelin was born in Lyon. He turned professional in 1995, after winning the French Amateur Championship. Jacquelin began his professional career on the Challenge Tour. In 1997 he claimed two wins on his way to fourth on the season ending money list, which was sufficient to grant him full playing privileges on the European Tour for the following season. Jacquelin had to wait for his first title at the top level, eventually winning on his 238th European Tour start at the 2005 Open de Madrid. His second victory came in 2007 at the BMW Asian Open. Chris Wood (golfer)
Christopher James Wood (born 26 November 1987) is an English professional golfer who currently plays on the European Tour. He was the low amateur in the 2008 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale and tied for third in the following year's tournament held at Turnberry. Amateur career Wood was born in Bristol, England. He went to school at Golden Valley Primary School in Nailsea between the ages of 4 and 11, before leaving to join Backwell School. He began playing golf at a young age. He was a keen footballer with aspirations to play for Bristol City Football Club but following a serious knee injury he devoted himself to golf. Jacob Thorbjørn Olesen (born 21 December 1989) is a Danish professional golfer who plays on the European Tour, where he has won eight times including the 2016 Turkish Airlines Open and the 2018 Italian Open. The 2012 European Tour was the 41st season of the European Tour, the main professional golf tour in Europe since its inaugural season in 1972. Changes for 2012 Prior to the start of the 2011 season, the tour had announced their intention to realign the schedule with the calendar. As a result, in 2012 there were several changes from the previous season. There was initially one new tournament in 2012, the ISPS Handa Perth International, and several tournaments were dropped: the Castelló Masters, the Iskandar Johor Open, and the Alfred Dunhill Championship, which was played in December as part of the 2013 season. Zander Lombard
Zander Lombard (born 18 January 1995) is a South African professional golfer. Amateur career As an amateur, Lombard won several events in Africa and represented South Africa in the Eisenhower Trophy in 2012 and 2014. In 2014, he was runner-up at The Amateur Championship, losing to Bradley Neil in the final, 2 and 1. He turned professional in late 2014. Professional career Lombard earned a spot in the 2016 Open Championship after a second-place finish at the Joburg Open, an Open Qualifying Series event. He made the cut, and finished tied for 66th. Álvaro Quirós
Álvaro Quirós García (born 21 January 1983) is a Spanish professional golfer. Quirós was born in Guadiaro (town), Guadiaro, a borough of San Roque, Cádiz. He turned professional in 2004. Professional career Quirós played on the Challenge Tour in 2006, winning one tournament, and went on to earn his place on the PGA European Tour, European Tour for the 2007 season by finishing in the top 35 at final qualifying school. 2018 European Tour
The 2018 European Tour was the 47th season of the European Tour, the main professional golf tour in Europe since its inaugural season in 1972. Changes for 2018 There were changes to membership criteria with the reversal of some of the changes introduced for the 2017 season; the number of players gaining exemption from the final Race to Dubai standings reverted to the top 110 and the Access List was scrapped, largely replaced by a re-ranking system. The Race to Dubai points system was adjusted, with all prize money being converted into U.S. dollars before translating into points (1 point = 1 dollar) having previously been calculated after converting into euro. The points for all tournaments were also fixed prior to the start of the season, having previously been set during each tournament week, thereby negating any fluctuation in exchange rates.
