Shuangliu Forest Recreation Area
Shuangliu Forest Recreation Area () is a forest in Caopu Village, Shizi Township, Pingtung County, Taiwan. Geology The forest spans an area of at an elevation of above sea level and annual mean temperature of . The highest point of the forest is Mount Maozi. Facilities For hiking purpose, the forest consists of four different trails, which are the Banyan trail, mountainside trail, Mount Maozi trail and waterfall trail. It has other facilities such as the Forest Classroom, Power of Nature, a nature center and the Sunshine Lawn. Transportation The forest is accessible by bus from Taitung Station of Taiwan Railways. Shizi, Pingtung
Shizi Township is a mountain indigenous township in Pingtung County, Taiwan. It is the largest township of the county. The main population is the Paiwan people of the Taiwanese aborigines. Names The original Paiwan name for the area was Tjakuvukuvulj (Tjakuvukuvuɬ; historically rendered as ''Chaobo Obol'' or in ). Han Chinese settlers noted a rock outcropping in the shape of a lion's head () and called the village ''Sai-a-thau-sia'' (). Under Kuomintang rule, the name was changed to the current ''Shizi'', though in Taiwanese Hokkien the name ''Sai-a-thau'' is still normally used in spoken contexts. Pingtung County is a county located in southern Taiwan. It has a warm tropical monsoon climate and is known for its agriculture and tourism. Taitung Railway Station
Taitung () is a railway station of Taiwan Railways Administration. It lies at the junction of the Hualien-Taitung line and the South-link line in Taitung City, Taitung County, Taiwan. History During the construction work of the back part of Taitung Station in 1980, a historic settlement area was discovered when graveyard containing several thousand slate coffins was unearthed, with some bodies still laid within. Around 20,000 pieces of jade, pottery and stone tools were also found.
