Sheldon is a rural residential locality in the City of Redland, Queensland, Australia. In the , Sheldon had a population of 1,704 people. Geography Sheldon is south-east of the Brisbane CBD. The suburb is sparsely populated, consisting of mostly bushland, including some residential properties on acreage. The presence of multiple protected areas is notable, preserving the region's natural eucalyptus forests, and protecting endangered species such as the koala. Tingalpa Creek flows through the western edge of the suburb, forming a border between the City of Brisbane. Since Tingalpa Creek's headwaters are located in the Sheldon region, the suburb is a catchment area for the entire Leslie Harrison Dam, which provides drinking water to much of the Redlands. Bushland
In Australia, bushland is a blanket term for land which supports remnant vegetation or land which is disturbed but still retains a predominance of the original floristics and structure. Human survival in bushland has a whole mythology evolving around it, with the stories of Aboriginal trackers and bushrangers deeply entrenched in Australian folklore. Bushland has been a traditional source of wood for fuel and bushfood. Sheldon College
Sheldon College is a private day school located in Sheldon in Redland City, Queensland, Australia. The school admits students from 15 months of age through to Grade 12. History Lyn Bishop, the founder of Sheldon College, was previously the Principal of Alexandra Hills State High School and the Deputy Executive of Education Queensland. She established the school in 1997 with a team of 6 staff and approximately 100 students. Sheldon College has since grown to become one of the largest schools in Redland City. In 2021 Lyn Bishop announced that she was stepping down as Principal after 25 years. Koala
The koala or, inaccurately, koala bear (''Phascolarctos cinereus''), is an arboreal herbivorous marsupial native to Australia. It is the only extant representative of the family Phascolarctidae and its closest living relatives are the wombats. Leslie Harrison Dam
The Leslie Harrison Dam is an earth-fill embankment dam across the Tingalpa Creek that is located in the South East region of Queensland, Australia. The main purpose of the dam is for potable water supply of the Redland City in Brisbane. The impounded reservoir is called Tingalpa Reservoir. The dam was named after Robert Leslie Harrison, a Queensland parliamentarian who died in April 1966.
