Shayne Hayne
Kevin John "Shayne" Hayne (born 31 October 1967 in Wellington, New South Wales,) is an Australian former rugby league referee. He officiated in the National Rugby League, City vs Country Origin, State of Origin series, All Stars Matches, the 2008 World Cup and the 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2014 NRL Grand Finals. Early career Hayne spent most of his early life in Muswellbrook, his family having moved there in 1968. He went to South Muswellbrook Primary School, then Muswellbrook High School. As a child, Hayne played rugby union and rugby league, before making a career in the latter sport. He played for the Muswellbrook Rams in the Group 21 competition, up until his retirement in 1994, after losing the grand final for a third time running. National Rugby League
The National Rugby League (NRL) is an Australasian rugby league club competition which contains clubs from New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory and New Zealand. The NRL formed in 1998 as a joint partnership between the Australian Rugby League (ARL) and media giant News Corporation-controlled Super League, in the aftermath of the 1990s Super League war, in which both ran parallel to each other in 1997. The partnership was dissolved in 2012, with control of the NRL going to the re-constituted ARL, which was re-structured with an independent board of directors and renamed the Australian Rugby League Commission. Papua New Guinea National Rugby League Team
The Papua New Guinea national rugby league team represents Papua New Guinea in the sport of rugby league football. In Papua New Guinea, Rugby League is a highly popular sport and is regarded as the country's national sport. The national side are known as the Kumuls (" birds-of-paradise" in Tok Pisin). Col Pearce
Colin Frederick Pearce (1917 – 10 June 2004) was an Australian rugby league referee. He is one of the most widely known and widely respected referees in the history of rugby league. Pearce, born in Newtown, New South Wales, was originally more interested in cricket but that changed to rugby league due to his fascination with the rules and interpretations of the rules of rugby league. He began refereeing in 1946, he was promoted to the first grade fixtures towards the end of the 1947 season. He then took charge of nine test matches between 1960 and 1967, three World Cup matches in 1968 and six Grand Finals, his first being in 1955, and then the others between 1964 and 1968. He enjoyed a career of 343 first grade games. He was authoritative yet he allowed the game to flow. He had a keen relationship with the players where they would show him respect due to his fair and consistent decision making. Bill Harrigan
Bill Harrigan (born 24 May 1960 in Sydney, New South Wales) is an Australian former rugby league football referee, and former head of refereeing for the National Rugby League. Unusually for a sports official, in his long career he was accorded the same profile as some of the top players he refereed. A policeman off-field before he resigned to concentrate on rugby league, he is widely recognised as one of Australia's greatest sports umpires. The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in Belmore, a suburb in the Canterbury-Bankstown region of Sydney. The South Sydney Rabbitohs are a professional Australian rugby league club based in Redfern, New South Wales, Redfern, a suburb of inner-southern Sydney, New South Wales. Matt Cecchin is an Australian former rugby league referee who officiated in the NRL between 2001 and 2021. Cecchin has officiated international matches at the 2011 Four Nations and 2017 World Cup, and domestic representative matches in all three games of the 2017 State of Origin series. Tony Archer (referee)
Tony Archer is an Australian former rugby league referee. He presided over 319 National Rugby League games as referee between 1999 and 2012 as well as being the referee of 13 State of Origin matches and 9 International matches, including at the 2008 World Cup. He was the former National Rugby League referee's elite performance manager. Rugby league career Archer made his first grade debut controlling a Western Suburbs Magpies v Canterbury Bulldogs match at Campbelltown on 24 July 1999. 2007 State Of Origin Series
The 2007 State of Origin series was the 26th year that the annual best-of-three series of interstate rugby league football matches between the Queensland and New South Wales representative teams was contested entirely under 'state of origin' selection rules. Queensland won the series by winning the first two games. New South Wales avoided the whitewash by winning the third match held at Suncorp Stadium. Paul Simpkins is an Australian former professional rugby league referee, officiating in the Australian first-grade competition, National Rugby League.
