Sharan (actor)
Sharan (born 6 February 1972) is an Indian actor and an occasional playback singer and film producer who works in Kannada cinema. He made his acting debut in the mid-1990s and appeared mostly in comedy roles and small supporting roles. However, he earned much recognition during the late 2000s and made his lead role for his 100th film '' Rambo'' and since then featuring as the lead actor in comedy films. Personal life Sharan was born into a family of theater artists. His grandparents and parents were reckoned artistes at the Gubbi theater. His younger sister Shruthi, is an actress. He has another younger sister. Though he was pushed to acting genre by his parents, his initial interest was in music and was part of an orchestra as a singer. Sharan (poet)
Sharan was a Sanskrit poet of the 12th century AD from Bengal. He was among five gems at the court of Lakshmana Sena. Biography Jayadeva described Sharan among his contemporaries and praised his poetry. No major work of Sharan was discovered. Sharan was mentioned in ''Saduktikarnamrta'' of Shridhar Das who was a governor under Lakshmana Sena Lokkhon Sen or Lakshmana Sena () was the ruler from the Sena dynasty of the Bengal region on the Indian subcontinent. His rule lasted for 28 years, in which his empire reached at its peak possessing the territories of Gauda, Kamrupa, Kalinga, ... and in the padavali of Rupa Goswami. Devi Sharan (born 1962) is an Indian retired aircraft pilot who was the captain of Indian Airlines Flight 814 when it was hijacked by the Harkat-ul-Mujahideen in December 1999. In 2024, Netflix released '' IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack'', a drama series adapted from Sharan's biography ''Flight Into Fear''. Early life Devi Sharan was born in 1962 in the village of Sawant, near Karnal in Haryana. He graduated from Dyal Singh College, Delhi, and joined Indian Airlines in 1986. Early in his flying career he flew the Boeing 737-200. By the late 1990s, he was flying Airbus aircraft. Indian Airlines Flight 814 Hijacking
Indian Airlines Flight 814, commonly known as IC 814, was an Indian Airlines Airbus A300 that was hijacked on 24 December 1999 by five members of Harkat-ul-Mujahideen. The passenger flight, en route from Kathmandu to Delhi, was taken over shortly after it entered Indian airspace at about 16:53 IST. The aircraft carried 190 occupants — 179 passengers and 11 crew members including Captain Devi Sharan, First Officer Rajinder Kumar, and Flight Engineer Anil Kumar Jaggia. The aircraft was flown to Amritsar, Lahore, and Dubai. While in Dubai, the hijackers released 27 passengers plus the body of a male hostage who had been stabbed by the hijackers multiple times. Later, on 25 December, the hijackers forced the aircraft to land in Kandahar in Afghanistan. At the time, most of Afghanistan, including the Kandahar airport, was under the control of the Taliban.
