Shane Jeffrey Smith (born April 4, 2000) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Chicago White Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2025. Career Milwaukee Brewers Smith attended The Governor's Academy in Byfield, Massachusetts, and Wake Forest University, where he played college baseball for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. He underwent Tommy John surgery in 2021 and signed with the Milwaukee Brewers as an undrafted free agent on July 27, 2021, after going unselected in the 2021 MLB draft. He made his professional debut in 2022 with the rookie-level Arizona Complex League Brewers. Smith split the 2023 season between the Single-A Carolina Mudcats, High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, and Double-A Biloxi Shuckers. In 38 appearances for the three affiliates, he compiled a cumulative 7–4 record and 1.96 ERA with 86 strikeouts and 10 saves across innings pitched. Shane Smith (born March 1954) was the director and a founder of the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens, and an author, consultant and lecturer. Education Smith attended Colorado State University, was a Loeb Fellow at Harvard, and is a registered horticultural therapist with the American Horticultural Therapy Association. Career At age 23 in 1977, Shane Smith became the first Director of the Cheyenne Community Solar Greenhouse. It was the first large-sized 100% solar heated greenhouse and was constructed by volunteers (including Smith). Its initial mission was to provide food and meaningful activities for senior volunteers. It operated as a non-profit under the umbrella of Community Action of Laramie County and was located on the outskirts of Cheyenne, WY. Shane Kristofer Smith (born August 24, 1993) is a former American football fullback. He attended college at San Jose State. Early life and college career Born in Santa Clara, California and raised in nearby Los Gatos, Smith attended Los Gatos High School and San José State University. With the San Jose State Spartans football team, Smith redshirted the 2012 season as a linebacker and played at running back and fullback from 2013 to 2016.
