Shahar "Dawn" is a god in Ugaritic and Canaanite religion first mentioned in inscriptions found in Ugarit (now Ras Shamra, Syria).Golan, 2003, p. 82. Shahar (, lit. "Dawn") is a moshav in south-central Israel. Located about three kilometres west of Kiryat Gat and one kilometre east of Nir Hen, it falls under the jurisdiction of Lakhish Regional Council. In it had a population of . History The moshav was founded in 1955 as part of the program to populate the area with Jewish refugees from North Africa and Jewish immigrants from India on the lands of the depopulated Palestinian village of al-Faluja. Its name symbolizes the dawn of Zionist settlement in Hevel Lakhish. The main industry that they developed was growing flowers for export, an enterprise which, despite the harsh desert climate, grew and prospered. Shulamith Shahar
Shulamith Shahar (; 2 November 1928 – 9 January 2025) was an Israeli historian. Shahar's 1981 study ''Fourth Estate: A History of Women in the Middle Ages'' was the first to specifically examine the role of women in the medieval period. The book is used as a text for gender studies and medieval history classes. This, and her subsequent books, have been published in both Hebrew and English. She wrote historical articles in these languages as well as French and translated three books from Latin to Hebrew. Life and career Shulamith Shahar was born in Latvia on 2 November 1928, the youngest of three daughters of industrialist Moshe Weinstock and his wife Deborah. In 1933, the family emigrated to Mandate Palestine, moving to Haifa. At the time, Shahar spoke only Russian. Shahar Gordon (; born June 7, 1980) is an Israeli former basketball player. He played the forward and center positions. He played in the Israeli Basketball Premier League, and for the Israeli national basketball team. Biography Gordon was born in Ramat Gan, Israel, and is Jewish. Shahar Kober (; born 1979) is an Israeli illustrator, art director and lecturer. He lives in Kiryat Tivon, Israel. Biography Kober was born in Kfar-Saba and raised in Ganei Am. He attended the Ami Assaf high school in Beit Berl and the University of Chicago Laboratory School. At age 21, he was admitted to Shenkar College of Engineering and Design, studying illustration and graphic design, graduating in 2005. Shahar Milfelder (Hebrew: שחר מילפלדר; born 17 September 1997) is an Israeli Paralympic medalist rower. She competed for Israel at the 2024 Paris Paralympics in the PR2 mixed double sculls and won the bronze medal with her rowing partner Druze-Israeli Saleh Shahin. Early life Milfelder grew up in Moshav Beit Yitzchak in Israel.
