Sf9 (cells)
Sf9 cells, a Cloning, clonal isolate of ''Spodoptera frugiperda'' Sf21, Sf21 cells (IPLB-Sf21-AE), are commonly used in insect cell culture for recombinant protein production using baculovirus. They were originally established from ovarian tissue. They can be grown in the absence of serum, and can be cultured attached or in suspension. Sf9 Rhabdovirus It has previously been shown that some Sf9 cell lines harbor a Negative-strand RNA virus, negative sense Rhabdovirus called Spodoptera frugiperda rhabdovirus (SfRV). However, not all tested Sf9 cells appear to be infected with this virus. SF9 (; shortened from Sensational Feeling 9) is a South Korean boy band formed by FNC Entertainment and the company's first dance boy group. The group is composed of eight members: Youngbin, Inseong, Jaeyoon, Dawon, Zuho, Yoo Taeyang, Hwiyoung, and Chani. Originally a nine-member group, Rowoon left the group on September 18, 2023, to focus on acting. They debuted on October 5, 2016, with the release of their first single album, '' Feeling Sensation''. The fall armyworm (''Spodoptera frugiperda'') is a species in the order Lepidoptera and one of the species of the fall armyworm moths distinguished by their larval life stage. The term "armyworm" can refer to several species, often describing the large-scale invasive behavior of the species' larval stage. It is regarded as a pest and can damage and destroy a wide variety of crops, which causes large economic damage. Its scientific name derives from ''frugiperda,'' which is Latin for ''lost fruit'', named because of the species' ability to destroy crops. Because of its propensity for destruction, the fall armyworm's habits and possibilities for crop protection have been studied in depth. It is also a notable case for studying sympatric speciation, as it appears to be diverging into two species currently. Sf21 (officially called IPLB-Sf21-AE) is a continuous cell line developed from ovaries of the Fall Army worm, ''Spodoptera frugiperda'', a moth species that is an agricultural pest on corn and other grass species. It was originally developed in the United States at the Henry A. Wallace Beltsville Agricultural Research Center. Sf9 is a substrain ( clone) of these cells that was isolated from Sf21 by researchers at Texas A&M University. ''Rhabdoviridae'' is a family of negative-strand RNA viruses in the order ''Mononegavirales''. Vertebrates (including mammals and humans), invertebrates, plants, fungi and protozoans serve as natural hosts.
