''Scream'' ( Kazakh: ''Айқай'') is a 2023 Kazakh drama film directed by Kenzhebek Shaikakov. It explores the impact of nuclear testing on a small village, highlighting the struggles and resilience of its inhabitants through a touching father-son narrative. The film was shot in the picturesque village of Shingozha, located in the Abai Region. It got official selections at 28th Busan International Film Festival, 30th Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema, Taipei Film Festival 2024 and 2nd Eikhoigi Imphal International Film Festival. Plot Melis and his son Zhalgas live a carefree life. They are residents of a small village near a nuclear testing area. Zhalgas looks forward to the day of the nuclear test. The reason is that, on those days, he is exempted from studying at school. It seems that even adults do not understand the dangers and consequences of this nuclear test. 28th Busan International Film Festival
The 28th Busan International Film Festival () opened on October 4 at the Busan Cinema Center in Busan, South Korea. Song Kang-ho of ''Parasite (2019 film), Parasite'' fame welcomed filmmakers as host of the festival, while Park Eun-bin acted as the moderator of the ceremony, which was broadcast live on YouTube channel and Naver TV. Opening with South Korean film ''Because I Hate Korea'' by Jang Kun-jae, 269 films were screened, including 209 officially invited films from 69 countries and 60 community beef screenings. Vesoul International Film Festival Of Asian Cinema
The Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema () is an annual special-interest film festival focusing on the cinemas of Asia. The festival is held annually in Vesoul, France. It was created in 1995 by Martine and Jean-Marc Thérouanne who have been codirecting the festival since then. The highest award of the festival is the Golden Cyclo Award. Other awards include the Special Langues "O" Award, given by the French National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilizations and the Emile Guimet Award by the Friends Association of National Museum of Asian Arts-Guimet at the festival. In the 17th edition of the festival, which attracted an audience of 28,700, three awards were given to the Chinese film "Addicted to Love" by director Liu Hao. Taipei Film Festival
The Taipei Film Festival (TFF; ) is a film festival promoted by the city of Taipei, Taiwan, through the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Taipei City Government. 2nd Eikhoigi Imphal International Film Festival
The 2nd Eikhoigi Imphal International Film Festival took place from 6 to 9 February, 2025 at Imphal, Manipur. The festival had screened 53 films from India and abroad, spread across four venues in Imphal (Manipur State Film Development Society, Chandrakriti Auditorium, Tanthapolis Cinema and Kumecs Cinema). The opening and closing ceremonies were held at City Convention Centre, Palace Compound.
