Scott Perunovich
Scott Douglas Perunovich (born August 18, 1998) is an American professional ice hockey defenceman for the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the second round, 45th overall, in the 2018 NHL entry draft. While playing with the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs men's ice hockey, University of Minnesota Duluth, Perunovich was named to the List of Division I AHCA All-American Teams#2010s, AHCA East First-Team All-American, the List of All-NCHC Teams#2010s, NCHC First All-Conference Team, List of NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey All-Tournament Teams#2010s, All-Tournament Team, and List of All-NCHC Teams#2010s 3, NCHC All-Rookie team. Hibbing is a city in St. Louis County, Minnesota, Saint Louis County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 16,214 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. The ''Mesabi Tribune'' is a daily newspaper published in Virginia, Minnesota. It is one of the oldest surviving businesses in the city. Derek Plante
Derek John Plante (born January 17, 1971) is an American ice hockey coach and former professional ice hockey player. Plante played eight seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Buffalo Sabres, Dallas Stars, Chicago Blackhawks and Philadelphia Flyers. He was a member of the 1999 Stanley Cup champion Dallas Stars. He was an assistant coach at the University of Minnesota-Duluth from 2010-2015 before returning to the program as associate head coach in 2020. Plante left UMD in 2022 to become an assistant coach for the Chicago Blackhawks. Playing career Drafted out of high school by the Buffalo Sabres in 1989, Plante attended the University of Minnesota Duluth and by his senior year was an All-Star leading the WCHA in goals, assists, and total scoring. Minnesota–Duluth Bulldogs Men's Ice Hockey
The Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs men's ice hockey team is an NCAA Division I college ice hockey program that represents the University of Minnesota Duluth. The Bulldogs are a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC). The team plays home games at the 6,800-seat AMSOIL Arena at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center. The Bulldogs program has produced many NHL players such as Glenn 'Chico' Resch, Jim Johnson who is currently the assistant coach for the San Jose Sharks, Tom Kurvers, Dave Langevin, and Bob Mason. The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders are a Tier I junior ice hockey team playing in the United States Hockey League (USHL). Before moving to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1999, the team was based in Mason City, where they were known as the North Iowa Huskies. Hibbing High School
Hibbing High School is a public school, grades 7–12, in Hibbing, Minnesota, United States. It was built from 1920 to 1922 as the entire city relocated south to make way for the expanding Hull–Rust–Mahoning Open Pit Iron Mine, Hull–Rust–Mahoning Mine. The lavish Tudor Revival architecture, Tudor Revival building was constructed at a cost of about $3.9 million (), becoming known as the "castle in the woods" and—thanks to its polished brass fixtures—the "school with the golden doorknobs". The project was bankrolled by the mining industry, which wanted to make the move more palatable for those being displaced. It also satisfied immigrants' desire for their children's education.
