Scott Model 3S
The Scott Model 3S was a British motorcycle made by The Scott Motorcycle Company in 1938. Only eight were produced before the outbreak of World War II. Development The Scott designer William Cull had been experimenting with three-cylinder two-strokes throughout the 1930s and had developed a prototype 747 cc engine. The Scott Motorcycle Company
The Scott Motorcycle Company was owned by Scott Motors (Saltaire) Limited, Saltaire, West Yorkshire, England and was a well-known producer of motorcycles and light engines for industry. Founded by Alfred Angas Scott in 1908 as the ''Scott Engineering Company'' in Bradford, Yorkshire, Scott motorcycles were produced until 1978. Initially started in a rented workshop, Alfred moved the business to Hirstwood Works, Hirstwood Road, Saltaire. This building is still used industrially. Two-stroke
A two-stroke (or two-stroke cycle) engine is a type of internal combustion engine that completes a power cycle with two strokes of the piston, one up and one down, in one revolution of the crankshaft in contrast to a four-stroke engine which requires four strokes of the piston in two crankshaft revolutions to complete a power cycle. During the stroke from bottom dead center to top dead center, the end of the exhaust/intake (or scavenging) is completed along with the compression of the mixture. The second stroke encompasses the combustion of the mixture, the expansion of the burnt mixture and, near bottom dead center, the beginning of the scavenging flows. Two-stroke engines often have a higher power-to-weight ratio than a four-stroke engine, since their power stroke occurs twice as often. Automatic lubrication systems (ALS), also known as centralized lubrication systems (CLS), are mechanical devices used in industrial machines and engines to apply specified quantities of a lubricant to distribution points while the machine is operating. Gear Pump
A gear pump uses the meshing of gears to pump fluid by displacement. They are one of the most common types of pumps for hydraulic machinery, hydraulic fluid power applications. The gear pump was invented around 1600 by Johannes Kepler. Gear pumps are also widely used in chemical installations to pump high-viscosity fluids. The Honda Gold Wing is a series of touring motorcycles manufactured by Honda. Gold Wings feature shaft drive and a flat engine. National Motorcycle Museum (UK)
The National Motorcycle Museum occupies an 8-acre (32,000 m2) site in Bickenhill, Solihull, England and holds the world's largest collection of British motorcycles. In addition to over 1,000 motorcycles, which cover a century of motorcycle manufacture, the museum developed award-winning conference facilities (The National Conference Centre) in 1985.
