Scotland Loves Anime
Scotland Loves Animation is a charity that promotes anime in Scotland. They hold an annual film festival called "Scotland Loves Anime" (often abbreviated to SLA) in October and work with other festivals to programme anime content into their schedules. It will celebrate its 15th festival in 2024, which will take place between 1 and 10 November 2024. In May 2020, Anime Limited launched a new online festival in partnership with Scotland Loves Animation, called Screen Anime. This service hosted 4 films and one TV series monthly. It was available in the United Kingdom, UK and Ireland only. The service ended on 25 May 2021, as COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom, cinemas reopened in the UK. The Belmont Cinema
The Belmont Cinema is an arthouse cinema on Belmont Street, Aberdeen, Scotland and is the last remaining independent cinema in the city. The cinema building is the property of Aberdeen City Council and is temporarily closed following the collapse of its former operator, the Centre for the Moving Image (CMI), in 2022. Belmont Community Cinema Ltd were named by Aberdeen City Council as preferred operator for the site in September 2023, with an expected reopening date of late 2024. The building was open as part of Aberdeen's 2024 Doors Open Day on 7 and 8 September. The Edinburgh Filmhouse is a cinema located in Edinburgh, Scotland, which opened in 1979. It was home to the world's oldest continually running film festival, Edinburgh International Film Festival. The cinema closed in October 2022 when its parent body went into administration. In September 2023, a campaign organised by former staff to reopen the cinema got underway. The planned re-opening date is currently June 2025. The Cameo, Edinburgh
The Cameo is a cinema in Tollcross, Edinburgh, Scotland, originally named the King's Cinema. It opened on 8 January 1914, making it one of the oldest cinemas in Scotland still in use. Since becoming the Cameo in 1949 it has had a tradition of showing art house films, becoming an important venue for the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Since 1992 it has had three screens. The Cameo was independent until 2003, when it was bought by Cineworld's Picturehouse chain. History Behind a modern shopfront, much of the cinema's original architectural character remains. Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA) is an art centre in Dundee, Scotland, with two contemporary art galleries, a two-screen movie theater, cinema, a printmaking, print studio, a learning and public engagement programme, a shop and a café bar.
