Scopolia Japonica
''Scopolia japonica'', also Japanese belladonna or Korean scopolia, is a flowering plant species in the genus '' Scopolia'' - one of the eight genera in tribe Hyoscyameae of the nightshade family Solanaceae. The coumarins umbelliferone and scopoletin have been isolated from the roots of ''Scopolia japonica''. Korea National Arboretum (), also called Gwangneung Forest (), is an arboretum in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. It is designated as a UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserve in 2010. Hyoscyameae is an Old World Tribe (biology), tribe of the subfamily Solanoideae of the flowering plant family Solanaceae. It comprises seven genera: ''Anisodus'', ''Atropa'', ''Atropanthe'', ''Hyoscyamus'', ''Physochlaina'', ''Przewalskia'' and ''Scopolia''. Umbelliferone, also known as 7-hydroxycoumarin, hydrangine, skimmetine, and ''beta''-umbelliferone, is a natural product of the coumarin family. It absorbs ultraviolet light strongly at several wavelengths. There are some indications that this chemical is antimutagenic, it is used in sunscreens.
