''Sarina Paris'' is the self-titled debut album by Canadian singer Sarina Paris, released on May 22, 2001. , this is Paris' only studio album, reaching number 167 on the ''Billboard'' 200 in the United States. Paris was nominated for a Juno Award in 2001, for "Look at Us", in the category of Best Dance Recording. Critical reception ''Sarina Paris'' received mixed reviews from music critics. The ''Orlando Sentinel'' commented on the album's quantity of "catchy tunes bound to get you dancing." However, ''The Washington Post'', while suggesting that Paris is capable of more, wrote that the album provided evidence that, for the time being, Paris is "another mindless slave to pop fashion." Sarina Paris (born December 22, 1973) is a Canadian singer, best known for her international dance-club hits "Look at Us" (2000) and "Just About Enough" (2001). Early life Born on December 22, 1973, Paris is of Italian descent and grew up in Toronto in a working-class family who were originally from Italy. She began singing in preschool in school plays and church choir. She moved back to Italy in 1996 after her mother died to get in touch with her ancestral roots. Career 1990s In 1995, Paris' debut song "Mystery Man" was released in Canada. "True Colors" is a song written by American songwriters Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. It was both the title track and the first single released from American singer Cyndi Lauper's second album (1986). Released late in the summer of 1986, the song would become a major hit for Lauper, spending two weeks at number one on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100, becoming her last single to occupy the top of the chart. It received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Composition Billy Steinberg originally wrote "True Colors" about his own mother.
