Sant Nirankari Mission
Sant Nirankari Mission is a new religious movement, spiritual organisation based in Delhi, India. It was founded in 1929 by Buta Singh. Sudiksha (Sant Nirankari mission), Mata Sudiksha, the daughter of Hardev Singh, is the sixth spiritual head of the Mission since 17 July 2018. History The Sant Nirankari Mission had its formal beginning on 25 May 1929, the day when Avtar Singh met Buta Singh. In 1943, Buta Singh passed on his position to Avtar Singh. Avtar Singh moved to Delhi after Partition of India, partition, where the "Sant Nirankari Mission" was created in 1948 (in 1947) He was succeeded by his son Gurbachan Singh in 1962. Gurbachan Singh was assassinated on 24 April 1980. During his final moments, Gurbachan Singh appointed his son Hardev Singh as the next ''satguru'' (leader). Nirankari
Nirankari (, ''lit.'' "formless one") is a Sects of Sikhism, sect of Sikhism.Harbans Singh, Editor-in-Chief (201Nirankaris Encyclopedia of Sikhism Volume III, Punjabi University, Patiala, pages 234–235 It was a reform movement founded by Baba Dyal Singh, Baba Dyal Das in northwest Punjab in 1851. He sought to restore the practices and beliefs of Sikhs back to what he believed were prevalent when Guru Nanak was alive. This movement emerged in the aftermath of the end of Sikh Empire and the Sikh history after Ranjit Singh's death. Nirankaris strongly oppose representing the "formless" God with any image, and believe that the true Sikh faith is based on ''nam simaran'' (remembering and repeating God's name). They believe in living hereditary gurus from Baba Dyal Das lineage, and that the Sikh scripture is an open text to which the wisdom of their living gurus after Guru Gobind Singh can be added. New Religious Movement
A new religious movement (NRM), also known as a new religion, is a religious or Spirituality, spiritual group that has modern origins and is peripheral to its society's dominant religious culture. NRMs can be novel in origin, or they can be part of a wider religion, in which case they are distinct from pre-existing Religious denomination, denominations. Some NRMs deal with the challenges that the modernizing world poses to them by embracing individualism, while other NRMs deal with them by embracing tightly knit collective means. Sadguru Mata Sudiksha Ji Maharaj (born 13 March 1985) is the spiritual head of the Nirankari Mission. Life and background Satguru Mata Sudiksha Ji Maharaj was appointed has the head of the Sant Nirankari Mission in 2018 after her mother Satguru Mata Savinder Hardev's health deteriorated. In 2019, Satguru Mata Sudiksha Ji Maharaj attended a three-day Nirankari Youth Symposium in the UK and met civic leaders in Sandwell. She also gave her first talk to her Indian followers in Pathankot in the same year and inaugurated a mega blood donation camp in Delhi. In 2021 she provided a virtual new year message to her followers and promoted human values at the 54th Nirankari conference held in Maharashtra. Hardev Singh
Hardev Singh (23 February 1954 – 13 May 2016), also known as Nirankari Baba, was an Indian spiritual guru and chief leader of the Sant Nirankari Mission from 1980 until his death. Early life and education Hardev Singh was born on 23 February 1954 to Gurbachan Singh and Kulwant Kaur in Delhi. He completed his elementary education from Yadvindra public school, Patiala, Punjab and later schooling from Rosary public school, Sant Nirankari Colony, Delhi. He graduated from Delhi University. In 1975, he married Sawinder Kaur during an annual Nirankari Sant Samagam in Delhi. Spiritual career Hardev Singh became a member of the Nirankari Seva Dal in 1971. After the assassination of his father Gurbachan Singh, who headed the Sant Nirankari Mission in 1980, he succeeded as the chief leader (''satguru'') of the organization. Gurbachan Singh
Gurbachan Singh (10 December 1930 – 24 April 1980) was the third guru of the Sant Nirankari mission, considered to be heterodox by mainstream Sikhs. He was born in Peshawar (modern-day Pakistan). He was declared next Guru by his father and predecessor Baba Avtar Singh in 1962. He was assassinated in 1980 following a clash with Sikh fundamentalists. Early life Gurbachan Singh was born to Avtar Singh and his wife Budhwanti. He completed his middle school education in Peshawar, and then matriculated from the Khalsa School in Rawalpindi.
