Samsung Notebook, (stylized as SΛMSUNG Notebook), formerly known as Samsung Sens (삼성 센스), also marketed as Samsung Notebook Series (2011–2013), is a line of portable computers produced by Samsung Electronics. The Sens line was first launched in 1995 and lasted until 2013, exported overseas without the Sens branding, and replaced by Samsung Ativ. Ativ itself was also dropped in favor of Samsung Notebook. As of 2020, Samsung Notebook co-exists with the company's Galaxy Book line of laptops but is facing transition. History The SENS brand (Samsung Electronics Notebook System) started in 1995, a year after Samsung laptop business started with the SPC5800/5900 series in 1994 which initially had a 486 processor and later Pentium 75 MHz. Samsung NC10
The Samsung NC10 (Samsung SENS NC10 in South Korea) is a subnotebook/netbook computer designed by Samsung. At the time of its introduction (2008), it was noted for its combination of a 10.2" screen and large 6-cell battery as standard, giving a battery life of up to 7.5 hours, a large hard disk drive and a release price of 499 USD (299 GBP). Technical overview Processor and memory The Samsung NC10 uses a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 processor running at FSB frequency of 533 MHz, and includes 1 GB of DDR2 800/6400 memory as standard. The laptop's graphics solution is the intel GMA950 ( intel 82945GME ). North bridge chipset is Intel 945GSE and south bridge is Intel ICH7-M. NC10 may be equipped with DDR2 667 or 800MHz, but 945GSE GMCH supports DDR2 400/533 MHz only, so there is no reason to install memory faster than 533 MHz ( PC2-4200). Netbook
A netbook is a small-sized laptop computer; they were primarily sold from 2007 until around 2013, designed mostly as a means of accessing the Internet and being significantly less expensive than regular-sized laptops. The Pentium M is a family of mobile 32-bit single-core x86 microprocessors (with the modified Intel P6 (microarchitecture), P6 microarchitecture) introduced in March 2003 and forming a part of the Intel Centrino#Carmel platform (2003), Carmel notebook platform under the then new Centrino brand.
