Georgios Samaras (, ; born 21 February 1985) is a Greek former professional association football, footballer who played as a forward (association football), forward. Samaras started his career at OFI Crete F.C., OFI, before moving on to Eredivisie side SC Heerenveen, Heerenveen in 2001. He made his first team debut two years later and after a further three seasons with the club he moved to Premier League club Manchester City F.C., Manchester City for a fee of £6 million in 2006–07 Manchester City F.C. season, 2006. Timothy Michael Samaras (November 12, 1957 – May 31, 2013) was an American engineer and storm chaser best known for his field research on tornadoes and time on the Discovery Channel show ''Storm Chasers''. He died in the 2013 El Reno tornado. Early life Samaras was born November 12, 1957, in Lakewood, Colorado, to Paul T. and Margaret L. Samaras. His father was a photographer and model-airplane distributor who was an Army projectionist in WWII. Tim assisted in the photography and shop work. Samaras first became interested in tornadoes at age six, when he watched '' The Wizard of Oz'' on television with his mother. "When the tornado appeared," he recalled, "I was hooked!" Samaras attended Lasley Elementary and O'Connell Junior High in Lakewood, before graduating from Alameda International Junior/Senior High School in 1976. Antonis Samaras
Antonis Samaras (, ; born 23 May 1951) is a Greek politician who served as Prime Minister of Greece from 2012 to 2015. A member of the New Democracy (Greece), New Democracy party, he was its president from 2009 until 2015. Samaras started his national political career as Ministry of Finance (Greece), Minister of Finance in 1989; he served as Minister for Foreign Affairs (Greece), Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1989 to 1992 (with a brief interruption in 1990) and Ministry of Culture and Sports (Greece), Minister of Culture in 2009. Kosmos Samaras (born ) is a Greek-Australian lobbyist, pollster, and former Victorian Labor strategist. He helped run Labor's state election campaigns for 14 years before departing in 2019 to found RedBridge, a political consultancy firm, which has become influential in Victorian politics. Lucas Samaras
Lucas Samaras (; September 14, 1936 – March 7, 2024) was a Greek-born American photographer, sculptor, and painter. Early life and education Samaras was born in Kastoria, Greece on September 14, 1936. He studied at Rutgers University and befriended Allan Kaprow. Samaras participated as actor in Kaprow's ''Happenings'' while studying acting with Stella Adler. Samaras posed for George Segal's plaster sculptures. Claes Oldenburg, in whose ''Happenings'' he also participated, later referred to Samaras as one of the "Fluxus at Rutgers University" which also included Kaprow, Segal, George Brecht, Robert Whitman, Robert Watts, Geoffrey Hendricks, and Roy Lichtenstein. Spyridon Samaras
Spyridon-Filiskos Samaras () (29 November 1861 - 7 April 1917) was a Greek composer particularly admired for his operas. His compositions were praised worldwide during his lifetime and he is arguably the most important composer of the Ionian School. Among his best-known works are the operas '' Flora mirabilis'' (1886) and '' Mademoiselle de Belle-Isle'' (1905). He also composed the music for the Olympic Hymn. Biography Samaras was born in Corfu. Giannis Samaras (; born 3 May 1961) is a former footballer who played as a midfielder during the 1980s and 1990s. Born in Australia, he represented Greece at international level. Club career Samaras was born in Melbourne, Australia, to Greek parents who moved there at an early age. His father, Georgios, was a co-founder of South Melbourne FC, an Australian soccer club with strong ties to the Greek community and is Australia's most successful Football side.
