Saigon Port (Ho Chi Minh City)
Saigon Port is a network of ports in Ho Chi Minh City. It is a major main port for Vietnam (which has six main sea ports), and the only able to handle post-Panamax ships. The port name is derived from the former name of the city. In 2013, it became the 24th busiest container port in the world. History Saigon Port played an important role in the foundation and development of the city of Saigon. During the era of French Indochina, the port played a significant role in the import and export of materials from the colony. Today the original port is still used for river excursion ships and a floating restaurant. Vũng Tàu (''Hanoi accent:'' , ''Saigon accent:'' ) is an important port city in southern Vietnam. It serves as the maritime port of Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city in Vietnam. Vũng Tàu covers of area and consists of 16 urban wards and one commune of Long Sơn Island. Vũng Tàu was the capital of the province until it was replaced by the much smaller Bà Rịa city on 2 May 2012. The city is also the crude oil extraction center of Vietnam. Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu Province
Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu (abbreviated BRVT) was formerly a province of Vietnam. It was located on the coast of the country's Southeast region. It bordered Đồng Nai to the north, Bình Thuận to the northeast and Ho Chi Minh City metropolitan area to the southwest. It also included the Côn Đảo islands, located some distance off Vietnam's southeastern coast. From 1954 to 1976, under South Vietnam, the province was called Phước Tuy.
