Sadong-guyŏk
Sadong-guyŏk, or Sadong District, is one of the 18 guyŏk, and one of the six, that constitute East Pyongyang, North Korea. It is on the eastern bank of the Taedong River, and the mouth of the Nam River. It is north of Ryŏkp'o-guyŏk (Ryokpho District), east of Taedonggang-guyŏk (Taedonggang District) and north east of Tongdaewŏn-guyŏk Tongdaewŏn-guyŏk or Tongdaewon District is one of the 18 wards, and one of the six that constitute East Pyongyang, North Korea. Taedonggang-guyŏk (), or Taedong River District, is one of the 18 guyŏk, and one of the six that constitute East Pyongyang, North Korea. Taedonggang-guyŏk is on the eastern bank of the Taedong River, north of Tongdaewŏn-guyŏk and west of Sadong-guyŏk (Sadong District). It was established in January 1958. Pyongyang () is the Capital city, capital and largest city of North Korea, where it is sometimes labeled as the "Capital of the Revolution" (). Tongdaewŏn-guyŏk or Tongdaewon District is one of the 18 wards, and one of the six that constitute East Pyongyang, North Korea. It sits on the eastern bank of the Taedong River. Special Cities Of North Korea
Special cities are one of the first-level administrative divisions within North Korea. There are four special cities in North Korea. Administrative Divisions Of North Korea
The administrative divisions of North Korea are organized into three hierarchical levels. These divisions were created in 2002. Many of the units have equivalents in the Administrative Divisions of South Korea, system of South Korea. At the highest level are nine provinces and four special municipalities. The second-level divisions are cities, counties, and districts. These are further subdivided into third-level entities: towns, dongs (neighborhoods), ris (villages), and workers' districts. The three-level administrative system used in North Korea was first inaugurated by Kim Il Sung in 1952, as part of a massive restructuring of local government. Taedong River
The Taedong River () is a large river in North Korea. Ryŏkp'o-guyŏk
Ryŏkp'o-guyŏk, or Ryŏkp'o District, is one of the 18 wards (guyŏk) that constitute Pyongyang, North Korea. This is where part of the Goguryeo tombs of Pyongyang can be found. Etymology The county name is after a village called ryokpodong.There are multiple theories behind the name Ryokpo. One theory suggests that it resulted from a misreading of the original chinese name Kompo(劍浦) which read the character Kom(劍) as ryok(力).The original name Kompo was said to be named because it was a spot where Kokuryo generals cleaned their swords in the creeks.Another theory suggests the name Ryokpo had an actual origin, because of an incident in the Joseon dynasty where the people used pure human force to block the incoming waters during high tide. Taedonggang Brewing Company
The Taedonggang Brewing Company () is a state-owned North Korean beer brewery company that brews the Taedonggang beer. The brewery is located in East Pyongyang and has facilities of tens of thousands of square meters. History In 2000, Kim Jong-il decided the country needed a showcase brewery. At that point having good relationships with the West, via connections to Germany the Government of North Korea bought the intact and still in place brewery plant of the closed Ushers of Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England for £1.5M via broker Uwe Oehms. Concerned it could be used for chemical weapons production, after assurances, Peter Ward, of brewing company Thomas Hardy Brewing and Packaging bought the plant, and arranged for a team from North Korea to travel to Trowbridge to dismantle it.
