Sadie Harrison
Sadie Harrison (born 1965) is an Australian-born composer, performer and academic. Early life and education Harrison was born in Adelaide, Australia and moved to England in 1970. She studied composition to doctoral level at King's College, London under Nicola LeFanu and David Lumsdaine. Her music has been performed worldwide by ensembles including London Chamber Symphony, Bournemouth Sinfonietta, the Kreutzer Quartet and the Kaskados Trio. Harrison's music is published by the University of York Music Press. Coming from a household of musicians, her father brought Sadie and her family to Britain from Australia in 1970 to pursue a career as an opera singer. She learned the piano and violin as a child but did not take to the instruments with much enthusiasm. Nicola LeFanu
Nicola Frances LeFanu (born 28 April 1947) is a British composer, academic, lecturer and director. Life Nicola LeFanu was born in Wickham Bishops, Essex, England, to William LeFanu and Elizabeth Maconchy (also a composer, later Dame Elizabeth Maconchy). She studied at St Hilda's College, Oxford, before taking up a Harkness Fellowship at Harvard. In 1972 she won the Mendelssohn Scholarship. She later became Director of Music at St Paul's Girls' School (1975–77), taught at King's College London (1977–1995, as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and Professor), and was then a Professor of Music at the University of York, where she was Head of Department from 1994 to 2001. She retired from teaching in 2008. In 1979 she married the composer David Lumsdaine. She earned a Doctorate in Music from the University of London in 1988 and holds honorary doctorates from the Universities of Durham and Aberdeen and from the Open University. David Lumsdaine
David Newton Lumsdaine (born 31 October 1931) is an Australian composer. He studied at the New South Wales Conservatorium of Music (as it was then known). He moved to England in 1952 and for a while shared a flat with fellow expatriate, the poet Peter Porter, with whom he collaborated on several projects including the cantata ''Annotations of Auschwitz'' (1964). In London he studied composition at the Royal Academy of Music with Lennox Berkeley. In 1970 he took a lecturing position at Durham University. In 1981 he took a post as senior lecturer at King's College London. He is published by The University of York Music Press and Universal Edition.
