Saddest Factory Records is an American record label that was founded on October 5, 2020, by Phoebe Bridgers. The label operates as an imprint of Dead Oceans and artists that have been signed to the label include Sloppy Jane, MUNA, Claud, and Charlie Hickey. History After releasing her second album, Punisher, Phoebe Bridgers founded Saddest Factory Records on October 5, 2020. The label's name, "Saddest Factory", was first coined on twitter by Phoebe Bridgers' former bandmate, Haley Dahl of Sloppy Jane. The name comes from a mispronunciation of the word "satisfactory". The label was founded as an imprint of Dead Oceans, and the first artist to be signed to the label was Claud. On May 19, 2021, MUNA became the second artist to be signed to the label. Phoebe Lucille Bridgers (born August 17, 1994) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. She has released two solo albums, '' Stranger in the Alps'' (2017) and '' Punisher'' (2020), both of which received critical acclaim. Sloppy Jane is an American chamber pop / rock music band fronted by Haley Dahl based in Brooklyn, New York. The band released their breakthrough second studio album ''Madison'' in 2021, through Saddest Factory Records, an imprint owned by their former bassist Phoebe Bridgers. They are known for some of their songs "Soft Spot" and "Wish You Were Gay". History Claud began releasing music under the pseudonym Toast, releasing an EP in 2018. ''Punisher'' is the second studio album by American singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers, released on June 18, 2020 by Dead Oceans. Bridgers first established herself with her 2017 debut, '' Stranger in the Alps'', a widely acclaimed indie rock effort. In the years preceding her second album, the California native formed the bands boygenius and Better Oblivion Community Center. The album features a 21-piece orchestra recorded 200 feet below the earth in Lost World Caverns. It was preceded by two singles, "Party Anthem" and "Jesus and Your Living Room Floor". Background Haley Dahl first conceived of the album in 2017 and it took her two years touring over thirty caves to find the right acoustics for the project.
