Sachiko Hayashi
Sachiko Hayashi (born 1962) is a Japanese-born, Sweden-based visual artist known for her work in video, net art, and interactive media. Her practice examines gender, identity, and the nature of knowledge by combining conceptual frameworks with experimental use of digital media. Hayashi's work has been exhibited internationally at venues including the National Gallery of Denmark, Transmediale in Berlin, and FILE – Electronic Language International Festival in São Paulo. It has been featured in curated DVD compilations and discussed in academic publications. She has also served as the longtime editor of ''Hz Journal'', an online publication dedicated to new media art, published by the non-profit art and music organization Fylkingen in Stockholm. Experimental Television Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit electronic and media art center. History The Experimental Television Center (ETC) was founded in 1971 by Ralph Hocking. The center was the result of the expansion of a media access program that Ralph Hocking established as professor of video and computer art at Binghamton University in 1969. In July 1979, the center moved from Binghamton to Owego, New York. The ETC, directed by Ralph Hocking and Sherry Miller Hocking, is devoted to the exploration and development of potential uses of new technology in video and media art. Avatar Orchestra Metaverse
The Avatar Orchestra Metaverse (AOM) (founded March, 2007) is a large collaborative group of performers spread across three continents, who incorporate the use of online avatars alongside virtual instruments, to create a variety of audio-visual performances within Second Life. About The Avatar Orchestra Metaverse consists of members based in Europe, North America and Asia. The core membership ranges between 8 and 12 members who are artists from music, sound art, visual art, new media, architecture and other disciplines. This, however, is not a fixed number, with the orchestra's additional members changing on a semi-regular basis. Kim Cascone (December 21, 1955) is an Italian American composer of electronic music who is known for his releases in the ambient, drone, industrial and electro-acoustic genre on his own record label, Silent Records. Biography In 1989 Cascone became an assistant music editor for director David Lynch on ''Twin Peaks'' and '' Wild At Heart''. Musically he has used various aliases over the years but became best known under the moniker Heavenly Music Corporation, a name taken from a track on the record ''(No Pussyfooting)'' by Brian Eno and Robert Fripp. Cascone released four full albums under this name from 1993 to 1996. Roy Ascott FRSA (born 26 October 1934) is a British artist, who works with cybernetics and telematics on an art he calls technoetics by focusing on the impact of digital and telecommunications networks on consciousness. Since the 1960s, Ascott has been a practitioner of interactive computer art, electronic art, cybernetic art and telematic art. Pauline Oliveros
Pauline Oliveros (May 30, 1932 – November 24, 2016) was an American composer, accordionist and a central figure in the development of post-war experimental and electronic music. She was a founding member of the San Francisco Tape Music Center in the 1960s, and served as its director. She taught music at Mills College, the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Oliveros authored books, formulated new music theories, and investigated new ways to focus attention on music including her concepts of "deep listening" and "sonic awareness", drawing on metaphors from cybernetics. House of Culture (Swedish: Kulturhuset) is a cultural center situated to the south of Sergels torg in central Stockholm, Sweden. The House of Culture has been described as a symbol for Stockholm as well as of the growth of modernism in Sweden. Overview In 1965 the city's government announced an architectural competition won by modernist architect Peter Celsing (1920–1974). Kulturhuset is from most angles dominated by its concrete and glass façade structure, with the adjacent theatre building having a façade of stainless steel.
