Al-Kindi
Abū Yūsuf Yaʻqūb ibn ʼIsḥāq aṣ-Ṣabbāḥ al-Kindī (; ar, أبو يوسف يعقوب بن إسحاق الصبّاح الكندي; la, Alkindus; c. 801–873 AD) was an Arab Muslim philosopher, polymath, mathematician, physician and music theorist. Al-Kindi was the first of the Early Islamic philosophy, Islamic peripatetic philosophers, and is hailed as the "father of Arab philosophy". Al-Kindi was born in Kufa and educated in Baghdad. He became a prominent figure in the House of Wisdom, and a number of Abbasid Caliphs appointed him to oversee the translation of Ancient Greece, Greek scientific and philosophical texts into the Arabic language. This contact with "the philosophy of the ancients" (as Hellenistic philosophy was often referred to by Muslim scholars) had a profound effect on him, as he synthesized, adapted and promoted Hellenistic and Peripatetic school, Peripatetic philosophy in the Muslim world. Hassan-i Sabbah
Hasan-i Sabbāh ( fa, حسن صباح) or Hassan as-Sabbāh ( ar, حسن بن الصباح الحميري, full name: Hassan bin Ali bin Muhammad bin Ja'far bin al-Husayn bin Muhammad bin al-Sabbah al-Himyari; c. 1050 – 12 June 1124) was the founder of the Nizari Isma'ili state and its ''fidā'i'' military groupLewis, Bernard (1967), ''The Assassins: a Radical Sect of Islam'', pp 38-65, Oxford University Press known as the Order of Assassins, often referred also as the ''Hashshashin''. Hassan Kamel Al-Sabbah
Hassan Kamel Al-Sabbah ( ar, حسن كامل الصباح; August 16, 1894March 31, 1935) was a Lebanese electrical and electronics research engineer, mathematician and inventor. He was born in Nabatieh, Lebanon. Biography He studied at the American University of Beirut. In 1916, he was conscripted into the Ottoman army, and worked as a telegraph operator. He later taught mathematics in Damascus, Syria, and at the American University of Beirut. In 1921, he travelled to the United States and for a short time studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology before joining the University of Illinois in 1923. He joined the vacuum tube department of the Engineering Laboratory of the General Electric Company at Schenectady, New York, in 1923, where he had engaged in mathematical and experimental research, principally on rectifiers and inverters. Fortress Re Inc. was an American aviation reinsurance company based in Burlington, North Carolina, and co-owned by Maurice Sabbah. Their auditor was Deloitte & Touche. History In 1979, Maurice Sabbah and Kenneth Kornfeld bought the reinsurance company Fortress Reinsurance Co. where they worked since 1972, and paid off the debt of the purchase ($700,000) in 3 years. Sabbah's family was the larger shareholder with two-thirds of the company's shares. During the 1970s and 1980s, Fortress Re greatly expanded its activities in Japan providing reinsurance solutions to Japanese insurance funds. Fortress Reinsurance Co. created a Bermuda-based subsidiary in 1984, Carolina Re, that collected the large dividends the owners collected discreetly.
