SR Telecom Inc. was a broadband wireless systems manufacturer headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, and present in over 130 countries around the world. Established in 1981, SR Telecom provided urban and rural telecommunications providers with wireless systems delivering voice, data and multimedia services. As almost all large corporations,{{citation needed, date=January 2013 SR Telecom gained much of its product line through acquisitions and mergers, such as acquisition of Lucent broadband wireless product lines in 2001 and the acquisition of Netro Corp. in 2003. Netro had previously bought out from AT&T the ambitious (yet commercially disastrous) Project Angel product, the first to use advanced technologies such as OFDM and space-time coding for data and packetized voice services. Wireless broadband is a telecommunications technology that provides high-speed wireless Internet access or computer networking access over a wide area. The term encompasses both Fixed wireless, fixed and mobile broadband.
