S!REN
THE S!REN () is the Denmark, Danish mobile warning system which is a supplement to the Civil defense siren#Denmark, warning sirens. Description The implementation has taken place on the basis of an Directive (European Union), EU directive which obliges the European Union#Member states, EU member states to introduce a digital supplement to the existing warning channels. The system came into effect in April 2023, and the first alarm occurred on 3 May 2023 at 12:00 PM as part of Denmark's annual test of the alert system. The Siren is operated by the Danish Emergency Management Agency, but is connected to the existing warning system. That is why it is the Danish police, police who send out alarms via the Siren. Cell Broadcast (CB) is a method of simultaneously sending Short Message Service, short messages to multiple mobile telephone users in a defined area. It is defined by the ETSI's GSM committee and 3GPP and is part of the 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G standards. It is also known as Short Message Service-Cell Broadcast (SMS-CB or CB SMS). Unlike Short Message Service-Point to Point (SMS-PP), Cell Broadcast is a Point-to-multipoint communication, one-to-many geo-targeted and geo-fenced messaging service. Cell Broadcast technology is widely used for Emergency population warning, public warning systems. History Cell Broadcast messaging was first demonstrated in Paris in 1997.
