S. V. Sahasranamam
Singanallur Venkataramana Iyer Sahasranamam (29 November 1913 – 19 February 1988), also known as S. V. S., was an Indian actor and director. Primarily a theatre actor, he also worked in over 200 films, mainly in Tamil cinema. Early life Sahasranamam was born on 29 November 1913 at Singanallur. He was the fourth child born to Venkatraman and Parvathi. Because of his interest in acting, he left his home at an early age to join the Madurai Sri Balashanmuganandha Sabha, a popular theatre group, which was later renamed T. K. S. Nataka Sabha. Career Several years after he joined T. K. S. Nataka Sabha, Sahasranamam started his own theatre group titled "Seva Stage". ''Policekaran Magal'' () is a 1962 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by C. V. Sridhar. Based on B. S. Ramiah's play of the same name, it stars Balaji, Muthuraman, Vijayakumari, Santha Kumari and Pushpalatha. The film was released on 7 September 1962 and was a success. ''Mahamaya'' () is a 1944 Indian Tamil-language historical drama film directed by T. R. Raghunath, starring P. U. Chinnappa and P. Kannamba. It was released on 16 October 1944. Plot Mahamaya, the princess of the kingdom of Gandhara and Vikram, the prince of a neighbouring kingdom happen to be pupils of the same teacher (Guru). Mahamaya garlands the sword of Vikram without knowing its implication. ''Edhir Paradhathu'' () is a 1954 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film directed by Ch. Narayana Moorthy and written by C. V. Sridhar. The film stars Sivaji Ganesan and Padmini, with V. ''Rohini'' is a 1953 Indian Tamil-language film directed by Kamal Ghosh and produced by S. Mukherjee. It is an adaptation of the Bengali novel ''Krishnakanter Uil'' by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. The film was released on 5 November 1953 and failed commercially. Plot A wealthy ''zamindar'' writes a will disposing of his property. He does not want to give the entire estate to his son who despises his father. The ''zamindar'' wants to give a major portion of the estate to one of his close relatives and he has a sister named Rohini, who is a widow. The ''zamindar'' son persuades Rohini to steal the will and substitute it with a counterfeit. She promptly does so, but after learning of the intentions of the ''zamindar'' son, she changes her decision and tries to replace the counterfeit with the original. ''Parasakthi'' (; ) is a 1952 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Krishnan–Panju and written by M. Karunanidhi. The film stars V. C. Ganesan, S. V. Sahasranamam, S. S. Rajendran, Sriranjani Jr., and Pandari Bai. It is the cinematic acting debut of Ganesan and Rajendran. Based on Pavalar Balasundaram's play of the same name, ''Parasakthi'' narrates the misfortunes that befall the members of a Tamil family during World War II. Central Studios initially planned on creating a film based on the ''Parasakthi'' play and T. S. Natarajan's play ''En Thangai''; however, the idea was dropped after Natarajan objected. An adaptation of the novel ''Vengeance'' by Marie Corelli and William Shakespeare's play ''Macbeth'', the film was shot simultaneously in Hindi as ''Ek Tha Raja'' (). It stars M. G. ''Vaazhkai'' () is a 1949 Indian Tamil-language social guidance film produced and directed by A. V. Meiyappan through AVM Productions. It stars Vyjayanthimala in her screen debut with M. S. Draupadi, T. R. Ramachandran and S. V. Sahasranamam forms an ensemble cast along with many actors appearing in other significant roles. Upon its release, the film was well received and it won the Best Tamil Film Award at the 1st Film Fans' Association Awards. Vyjayanthimala and M. S. Draupadi received the Second Best Tamil Actress and Third Best Tamil Actress Awards respectively. It also broke some box office records in South India. ''Nallathambi'' is a 1949 Indian Tamil-language film starring and produced by N. S. Krishnan. The film's script was written by C. N. Annadurai (later chief minister of Tamil Nadu). This film marked Annadurai's debut in Tamil films. The movie is an adaptation of 1936 American movie ''Mr. Deeds Goes to Town''.
