Rødøya
Rødøya is an island in the municipality of Rødøy in Nordland county, Norway. The island is located just west of the mouth of the Tjongsfjorden, north of the island of Gjerdøya, and west of the mainland. There are ferry connections from the village of Rødøy to the village of Jektvika on the mainland and to the nearby island of Gjerdøya. Rødøy Church is located in the village of Rødøy on the south side of the island. The island had 150 residents in 2017. Rødøy is a municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is part of the Helgeland traditional region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Vågaholmen. Other villages include Gjerøy, Jektvika, Kilboghamn, Melfjordbotn, Oldervika, Sørfjorden, and Tjong. The municipality consists of many islands to the west of Norway's second biggest glacier, Svartisen. The municipality is the 162nd largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Rødøy is the 324th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 1,153. The municipality's population density is and its population has decreased by 12.7% over the previous 10-year period. Tjongsfjorden
Tjongsfjorden is a fjord in the municipality of Rødøy in Nordland county, Norway. The long fjord begins just west of the Svartisen glacier and flows west and flows into the Rødøyfjorden, just east of the island of Rødøya. The mountain Blokktinden lies on the southern shore of the fjord. The villages of Tjong and Vågaholmen lie along the northern shore of the fjord. Rødøy Church
Rødøy Church ( no, Rødøy kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Rødøy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located on the island of Rødøya. It is one of the churches in the Rødøy parish which is part of the Nord-Helgeland prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in an octagonal style in 1885 using plans drawn up by the architect Andreas Grenstad. The church seats about 700 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1432, but the church was not built that year. The first church here was located about north of the present site of the church (an alternate site where there may be evidence of this first church is about north of the present church site). Kunnskapsforlaget () is a Norwegian publishing company based in Oslo. Kunnskapsforlaget was established in 1975, as a partnership between H. Aschehoug & Co. (W. Nygaard) and Gyldendal Norsk Forlag. The purpose was to co-operate on publishing encyclopaedias and dictionaries. The first volume of Store norske leksikon (SNL) was published in 1978. A total of four editions was published (the last one in 2004), before the online version was transferred to Institusjonen Fritt Ord og Sparebankstiftelsen DnB in 2011. Kunnskapsforlaget is the largest dictionary publisher in Norway. They publish both printed books, and digital dictionaries that are available through the online service Ordnett (launched in 2004).
