Ryan Johnson (born July 24, 2001) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman with the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted in the first round, 31st overall, by the Sabres in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Johnson played with the Sioux Falls Stampede in the United States Hockey League (USHL) before he was drafted 31st overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the first round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. He committed to a collegiate career with the University of Minnesota in the Big Ten Conference (B1G). After completing his college career, he signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Sabres in May 2023 and was assigned to AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans as that team was playing in the AHL Eastern Conference finals. In the season, Johnson made his NHL debut against the Toronto Maple Leafs on November 4, 2023 after being recalled from the Rochester Americans of the AHL. In ice hockey, point has three contemporary meanings. Personal stat A point is awarded to a player for each goal scored or assist earned. The total number of goals plus assists equals total points. The Art Ross Trophy is awarded to the National Hockey League (NHL) player who leads the league in scoring points at the end of the regular season. Team stat Points are also awarded to assess standings (or rankings). Historically, teams were awarded two points for each win, one point for each tie and no points for a loss. Assist (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, an assist is attributed to up to two players of the scoring team who shot, passed or deflected the puck towards the scoring teammate, or touched it in any other way which enabled the goal, meaning that they were "assisting" in the goal. There can be a maximum of two assists per goal. The assists will be awarded in the order of play, with the last player to pass the puck to the goal scorer getting the primary assist and the player who passed it to the primary assister getting the secondary assist. Players who gain an assist will get one point added to their player statistics. In ice hockey, a goal is scored when the puck entirely crosses the goal line between the two goal posts and below the goal crossbar. 2021 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships
The 2021 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships (''2021 WJHC'') were the 45th edition of the Ice Hockey World Junior Championship. It began on December 25, 2020, and ended with the gold medal game on January 5, 2021. This marked the 16th time that Canada hosted the WJIHC. IIHF World U20 Championship
The IIHF World Junior Championship (WJC), or simply the "World Juniors" in ice hockey circles, is an annual event organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) for national under-20 ice hockey teams from around the world. It is traditionally held in late December, ending in early January. The tournament usually attracts the top hockey players in this age category.
