Roser Caminals-Heath is an author and professor. She earned her Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees at the University of Barcelona. She is the author of five novels written in Catalan. She has also translated other authors novels like, ''The House of Ulloa'', by Emilia Pardo Bazán, and ''A Matter of Self-Esteem and Other Stories'' by Carme Riera, the latter in cooperation with 1994 Hood College graduate Holly Cashman. She has also published a non-fiction book, ''La seducció americana'', about her experiences in the United States, as well as essays and reviews in professional journals such as ''The Georgia Review'' and ''The American Book Review''. Emilia Pardo Bazán
Emilia Pardo Bazán y de la Rúa-Figueroa (16 September 185112 May 1921), countess of Pardo Bazán, was a Spanish novelist, journalist, literary critic, poet, playwright, translator, editor and professor. She is known for introducing naturalism into Spanish literature, for her detailed descriptions of reality, and for her ground-breaking introduction of feminist ideas into the literature of her era. Her ideas about women's rights for education also made her a prominent feminist figure. Life Childhood and education Emilia Pardo Bazán was born into an affluent noble family in A Coruña, Galicia, Spain. The family's principal residence was in Rúa Tabernas but they also owned two other houses, one close to Sanxenxo and the other, known as the Pazo de Meirás, located in the outskirts of the city. Carme Riera
Carme Riera Guilera (; born 12 January 1948) is a novelist and essayist. She has also written short stories, scripts for radio and television and literary criticism. She holds a doctorate in Hispanic Philology and is a professor of Spanish literature at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Riera was born in Palma. She attended the Sacred Heart primary school and the Joan Alcover Institute in Palma, where she met Majorcan writers and fell in love with a teacher, Francisco Llinás. In 1965 she moved to Barcelona to study Hispanic Philology in the Department of Philosophy and Letters of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. She graduated in 1970 and the following year married Francisco Llinás and was hired by Manuel Blecua to give classes in the Department.
