Rolf Agop
Rolf Agop (11 June 1908 – 15 October 1998) was a German Conductor (music), conductor and academic teacher of Armenian descent. Career Born in Munich where he studied, Agop worked first for the Bayerische Landesbühne, a touring theatre, and then for three years as Kapellmeister and choir director at the Kärntner Grenzland-Theater in Klagenfurt. From 1945 to 1948 he was Kapellmeister at the Staatstheater Nürnberg, Nürnberg Opera. In 1949 Agop taught conducting at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold. From 1950 to 1952 he was the first principal conductor of the newly formed Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie. He then was Generalmusikdirektor of the Dortmunder Philharmoniker. From 1962 to 1964 he conducted the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, and from 1962 to 1976 the Siegerlandorchester, later called Philharmonie Südwestfalen. He died in Hilchenbach. Hilchenbach
Hilchenbach () is a town in the Siegen-Wittgenstein '' Kreis'' (district) of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Geography Location Hilchenbach is about northeast of Siegen. The town borders in the south on Netphen, in the west on Kreuztal, in the north on Kirchhundem and in the east on Erndtebrück. Geology The town's largest flowing body of water is the Ferndorfbach, a tributary to the river Sieg. The municipal area's average elevation is above sea level, with its highest elevation being at at the Riemen, a peak in the Rothaargebirge. Malmö Symphony Orchestra
The Malmö Symphony Orchestra ( sv, Malmö Symfoniorkester) is a Swedish orchestra, based in Malmö. Since 2015, it has been resident at the Malmö Live Concert Hall. The orchestra has a complement of 94 musicians. History The orchestra was founded in 1925 with Walther Meyer-Radon as the first chief conductor, from 1925 to 1929. At first, the orchestra performed both symphony concerts and served as the orchestra of the Malmö Opera and Music Theatre. From 1991 onwards, the orchestra has been exclusively devoted to symphony orchestra concerts. Between 1985 and 2015, the orchestra gave its main concert series in the Malmö Concert Hall, after which they moved to Malmö Live. The Dortmunder Philharmoniker (Dortmund Philharmonic) are a German symphony orchestra based in Dortmund. The orchestra of the Theater Dortmund performs opera in the Opernhaus Dortmund and concert in the Konzerthaus Dortmund. The orchestra was founded in 1887 and has been shaped by conductors such as Wilhelm Schüchter, Marek Janowski, Moshe Atzmon and Jac van Steen. The Hochschule für Musik Detmold is a university-level music school situated in Detmold, Germany. Academics The Hochschule offers performance degrees in composition, all orchestral instruments, piano, voice, opera, art-song, conducting, as well as degrees in church music and music education. Artistic Music Production (Musik-Tonmeister) is also offered at the Institute. Structure In 2007 there were 594 students matriculated, plus an additional 22 junior students. The Hochschule offers about 300 concerts per year. The present director is Professor Martin Christian Vogel. In 2008 he was re-elected to a further appointment.
