Rodrigo Delgado
Rodrigo Javier Delgado Mocarquer (La Ligua, June 13, 1974) is a Chilean psychologist and politician, member of the Independent Democrat Union (UDI) party. From November 4, 2020 until 11 March 2022, he served as Minister of the Interior and Public Security of Chile, under the second administration of Sebastián Piñera. Previously, between 2008 and 2020, he was mayor of the Estación Central commune. The Ministry of the Interior and Public Security ( es, Ministerio del Interior y Seguridad Pública, links=no) is the cabinet-level office of home affairs in Chile, in charge of "maintaining public order, security and social peace" within the country. Cerro Navia (Spanish for "Navia Hill") is a commune of Chile located in Santiago Province, Santiago Metropolitan Region. It is one of the most densely populated communes of Santiago, Chile. The Socialist Party of Chile ( es, Partido Socialista de Chile, or PS) is a centre-left political party founded in 1933. Its historic leader was President of Chile Salvador Allende, who was deposed in a CIA-backed coup d'état by General Augusto Pinochet in 1973. The Independent Regionalist Party ( es, Partido Regionalista Independiente, PRI) was a centrist political party in Chile. The party was regionalist ideologically but had a nationwide presence. It was intended to be an alternative to the dominant coalitions in the Chilean electoral system, the New Majority and the Alliance. It was formed by the merger of the National Alliance of Independents (ANI) and the Regionalist Action Party of Chile (PAR) on 4 July 2006. The Independent Democratic Union (''Unión Demócrata Independiente'', UDI) is a conservative and right-wing political party in Chile, founded in 1983. Its founder was the lawyer, politician and law professor Jaime Guzmán, a civilian allied with Augusto Pinochet. Guzmán was a senator from 1990 until his murder by communist guerrillas on April 1, 1991. Its ideological origins date back to Guzmán's Guildist Movement, born out of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile in 1966, espousing the independence and depoliticization of intermediate bodies of civil society. The Christian Democratic Party ( es, Partido Demócrata Cristiano, PDC) is a Christian democratic political party in Chile. There have been three Christian Democrat presidents in the past, Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle, Patricio Aylwin, and Eduardo Frei Montalva. Customarily, the PDC backs specific initiatives in an effort to bridge socialism and laissez-faire capitalism. This economic system has been called "social capitalism" and is heavily influenced by Catholic social teaching or, more generally, Christian ethics. In addition to this objective, the PDC also supports a strong national government while remaining more conservative on social issues.
