Rodrigo Cordero
Rodrigo Antonio Cordero Solano (born 4 December 1973) is a retired Costa Rican professional footballer. Club career Cordero made his debut on 4 September 1994 for second division outfit Municipal Puriscal against Uruguay de Coronado. Nicknamed ''Rocky'', he later played for Alajuelense, Herediano, Brujas, Cartaginés, Pérez Zeledón, Puntarenas, Ramonense before moving to second division side Barrio Mexico in summer 2010. He was a tough-tackling holding midfielder with enormous energy and determination. International career Cordero made his debut for Costa Rica in a friendly match against Paraguay on June 21, 2000 and has made 34 appearances for the Costa Rica national football team, including 14 qualifying matches for the 2002 FIFA World Cup. He represented his country at the 2003 UNCAF Nations Cup as well as at the 2001 Copa América and was a non-playing squad member at the 2002 World Cup. Moravia (canton)
Moravia is the fourteenth canton in the San José province of Costa Rica. The head city of the canton is San Vicente. Toponymy It is named in honour of President Juan Rafael Mora Porras (1814 – 1860). Since there was already a canton called Mora, this one was named Moravia. History Moravia was created on 1 August 1914 by decree 55. Law No. 55 established Villa San Vicente on 1 August 1914. The first session of the Council of Moravia was held on 19 January 1915, and the first electric street lighting was installed in the same year. Law No. 3248 gave the town of San Vicente city status on 6 December 1963. Geography Moravia has an area of km² and a mean elevation of metres. 2001 Copa América
The 2001 Copa América was held in Colombia, from 11 to 29 July. It was organised by CONMEBOL, South America's football governing body. Colombia won the tournament for the 1st time without conceding a goal. Brazil were the defending champions who were knocked out from the tournament by Honduras after suffering a 0–2 defeat in the quarter-final. There is no qualifying for the final tournament. CONMEBOL's ten South American countries participate, along with two more invited countries, making a total of twelve teams competing in the tournament. Originally, Mexico and CONCACAF Champions Canada were invited. Prior to the tournament, three meetings were held by CONMEBOL authorities who were concerned about potential security issues in Colombia. On 1 July they announced the cancellation of the tournament. 2002 FIFA World Cup Qualification (CONCACAF)
The 2002 FIFA World Cup qualification, ran from 2000 to 2001 in order to determine the three representatives at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. For an overview of the qualification rounds, see 2002 FIFA World Cup qualification. A total of 35 CONCACAF teams entered the competition. Guyana withdrew before playing, leaving 34 nations in the race. Mexico, USA, Jamaica and Costa Rica, the four highest-ranked teams according to FIFA, received byes and advanced to the semi-finals, while Canada advanced directly to the "play-offs" between Caribbean and Central teams. The remaining teams were divided into two zones, based on geographical locations, as follows: * Caribbean Zone: The 24 teams were divided into groups of eight teams each.
