Roderick Mackenzie Gray
Roderick Mackenzie Gray was a British businessman and member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. He was the head of the Reiss & Co. and the Chairman of the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank. He was made Justice of the Peace in 1890. From 1897 to 1900, he was Chairman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce from 1897 to 1900. On 21 June 1900 he was appointed unofficial member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong vice E. R. Belilios resigned. He married Eleanor Maud H. Potts in Hong Kong on 8 May 1893. Emanuel Raphael Belilios
Emanuel Raphael Belilios, (14 November 1837 – 11 November 1905) was a banker, opium dealer, philanthropist, and businessman, born in Calcutta, British India and active in Hong Kong. His father, Raphael Emanuel Belilios, was a member of a Jewish Venetian family. Belilios married Simha Ezra in 1855, and in 1862 he settled in Hong Kong and engaged in trade. His success saw him described in the British press at the time as "one of the merchant princes of the colony." In the 1870s, Belilios was chairman of the Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited. He tried to establish relations with the then British prime minister Benjamin Disraeli by proposing a marble and bronze statue of Disraeli, which was declined by the prime minister himself. Belilios erected the Beaconsfield Arcade, a reference to Disraeli title Lord Beaconsfield, in Hong Kong instead. The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) is one of the oldest institutions in Hong Kong, having been founded in 1884. In 1959, it was granted a Royal Charter and renamed The Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club (). The institution reverted to its original name in 1996 due to the transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong in 1997. Membership of the club is by nomination and election. James Jardine Bell-Irving (24 December 1859 – 8 June 1936) was a Scottish businessman in Hong Kong and China and member of the Executive Council and Legislative Council of Hong Kong. John Thurburn
John Thurburn was a British banker. He was manager of the Mercantile Bank of India and member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. Thurburn was the manager of the Chartered Mercantile Bank of India, London & China. He was appointed to the Shipping Charges Commission in 1897, the Subsidiary Coinage Committee in 1899, Committee on Registration of Chinese Partners in 1901, and the Committee on Education and Commission of Inquire into Public Works Department in 1902.
