Rockford Pro-Am Golf Tournament
The Rockford Pro-Am Golf Tournament, also known as the Rockford ProAm, was a one-day tournament featuring golf professionals, sponsors and amateur golf enthusiasts in order to raise funds for special organizations. It was the longest free-standing pro-am (not attached to the PGA or LPGA) event in the United States. It was normally held in July following the John Deere Classic. More commonly known as just the ''Rockford Pro-Am'', the event celebrated its 42nd anniversary in 2018. There are normally 20-25 professionals are teamed up with teams of four amateurs. A tournament is a competition involving at least three competitors, all participating in a sport or game. Pro–am Golf Tournaments
Pro–am (or pro/am, pro am, ProAm; a contraction of professional–amateur) refers to a sporting event where both professional career athletes and amateurs compete. It could also refer to a collaboration between professionals and amateurs in a scientific discipline such as astronomy. Nancy Lopez
Nancy Marie Lopez (born January 6, 1957) is an American former professional golfer. She became a member of the LPGA Tour in 1977 and won 48 LPGA Tour events, including three major championships. Amateur career Lopez won the New Mexico Women's Amateur at age 12 in 1969, and the U.S. Girls' Junior in 1972 and 1974, at ages 15 and 17, respectively. Shortly after graduation from Goddard High School in Roswell, she played in the U.S. Women's Open as an amateur, first in 1974 and again in 1975 where she tied for second. Lee Buck Trevino (born December 1, 1939) is an American retired professional golfer who is regarded as one of the greatest players in golf history. He was inducted to the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1981. Trevino won six major championships and 29 PGA Tour events over the course of his career. Jim Thorpe (golfer)
Jimmy Lee Thorpe (born February 1, 1949) is an American professional golfer, currently playing on the Champions Tour. Early life Thorpe was born in Roxboro, North Carolina, the ninth of the twelve children of a fairway superintendent. He attended Morgan State University. Professional career Thorpe turned professional in 1972. He won three times on the PGA Tour in the mid-1980s. He has surpassed this at senior level by winning over ten times, including one senior major championship (the 2002 Tradition) and making the top ten of the Champions Tour's career money list in 2004. Juan Antonio "Chi-Chi" Rodríguez (born October 23, 1935) is a Puerto Rican professional golfer.
