''Robot Wars'' is a 1993 American cyberpunk film directed by Albert Band and written by Charles Band and Jackson Barr. It tells the story of a hotshot mech pilot in a post-apocalyptic 2041 who must stop mech hijackers from provoking global war. Plot By 2041, North America has been ravaged by "the great toxic gas scare of 1993": large swaths of land have been turned into inhospitable desert, where bands of raiders called "Centros" attack transports. The former United States have been assimilated into a Western bloc called the North Hemi. The opposing Eastern bloc is known as the Eastern Alliance, and the North Hemi is planning to salvage its economy by manufacturing defense robots called "mini-megs" for the Eastern Alliance. Albert Band
Albert Band (May 7, 1924 – June 14, 2002) was a French-American film director and film producer. He was the son of artist Max Band, father of filmmaker Charles Band and of film composer Richard Band and the grandfather of Alex Band, Taryn Band and Rachael Band. Life and career Band was born in Paris, France, the son of Bertha (Finkelstein) and Max Band, an artist. His mother was born in Russia and his father was from Kudirkos Naumiestis, Lithuania. His family is Jewish. He escaped from Paris to the United States with his family prior to the occupation of France during World War II. He graduated from Hollywood High School. Interested in film, he became an apprentice at Warner Bros. where he developed contacts eventually becoming an assistant director on John Huston's '' The Asphalt Jungle'', then adapting the story ''The Red Badge of Courage'' for Huston's film of the same name. Sam Scarber
Sam Willis Scarber (born June 24, 1949) is an American actor former American football fullback in the National Football League for the San Diego Chargers. He played college football at the University of New Mexico and was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the third round (69th overall) of the 1971 NFL Draft. Early years Scarber was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended John O'Fallon Technical High School. He moved on to play at Northeastern Junior College, before transferring to the University of New Mexico, where the team used a triple-option running offense. In 1968, he registered the school's second longest pass play (88 yards) against the University of Texas at El Paso. In 1969, he was the team's leading rusher (534 yards) and had a school record 38 carries against the University of Kansas.
