Robert J. Pruden
Robert Joseph Pruden (September 9, 1949 – November 20, 1969) was a United States Army soldier and a recipient of the United States military's highest decoration—the Medal of Honor—for his actions in the Vietnam War. Biography Pruden joined the Army from Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1967, and by the time of his death was serving as a Staff Sergeant in the 75th Ranger Infantry Regiment (Airborne), Americal Division. On that day, in Quang Ngai Province of the Republic of Vietnam, Pruden was killed in a firefight with enemy forces. For his actions during the battle, he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor on November 20, 1969. Pruden, aged 20 at his death, was buried in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota. An ambush is a long-established military tactic in which a combatant uses an advantage of concealment or the element of surprise to attack unsuspecting enemy combatants from concealed positions, such as among dense underbrush or behind mountaintops.
