Robert C. Davey
Robert Charles Davey (October 22, 1853 – December 26, 1908) was a U.S. Representative from Louisiana. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Davey attended the public schools, and was graduated from St. Vincent's College, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, in 1871. He engaged in mercantile pursuits. Davey was elected to the State Senate in 1879, 1884, and again in 1892. He served as president pro tempore of the senate during the sessions of 1884 and 1886. He served as judge of the first recorder's court in New Orleans 1880-1888. He was an unsuccessful candidate for mayor of New Orleans in 1888. Davey was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-third Congress (March 4, 1893 – March 3, 1895). He declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1894. Davey was elected to the Fifty-fifth and to the five succeeding Congresses and served from March 4, 1897, until his death. Matthew Diamond Lagan
Matthew Diamond Lagan (June 20, 1829 – April 8, 1901) was a U.S. Representative from Louisiana's 2nd congressional district from 1887 to 1889 and 1891 to 1893. He was a Democrat. Lagan was born in Maghera, County Londonderry, Ireland, and immigrated to the United States at age 14. In New Orleans, he fitted out vessels for the Confederate Navy, and served in the Confederate Navy himself. He was elected to terms on the New Orleans City Council in 1867 and 1882. After serving his first term in Congress, he chose not to run for reelection, but then ran in 1890 and defeated his successor, Hamilton D. Coleman. Lagan died in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 8, 1901, and is buried in Metairie Cemetery Metairie Cemetery is a cemetery in southeastern Louisiana. Samuel Louis Gilmore
Samuel Louis Gilmore (July 30, 1859 – July 18, 1910) was a U.S. Representative from Louisiana. Gilmore was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was instructed by private tutors, graduating from the Central High School of New Orleans in 1874, from Seton Hall College, South Orange, New Jersey, in 1877, and from the law department of the University of Louisiana (now Tulane University) at New Orleans in 1879. He was admitted to the bar in 1880 and commenced practice in New Orleans, Louisiana. From 1888 to 1896, Gilmore served as assistant city attorney. He was city attorney from 1896 until March 15, 1909, when he resigned. He served as delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1908. Gilmore was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-first Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Robert C.
