RiksTV
RiksTV (formerly ''NTV Pluss'') is the distributor of pay television in the Norwegian digital terrestrial television network. Except for NRK1, NRK2, NRK3/NRK Super and the NRK radio channels, all broadcasts in the Norwegian DTT network are encrypted. The channels that are broadcast in the RiksTV packages are selected by RiksTV themselves. History Pre-launch Some of the initial discussions concerned the availability of free-to-air channels other than the ones from NRK. TV 2 and TVNorge had stated that their channels would be encrypted, although they were free-to-air in the analogue network. This caused Modern Times Group, owners of TV3, to announce the launch of "TV4" that they wanted to be free-to-air. RiksTV were however unwilling to broadcast it free-to-air. Viasat 4
TV3+ (formerly V4 and Viasat 4) is a television channel broadcasting to Norway owned by the Viaplay Group. The channel was launched test on 28 September 2007, a week 14 June 2014 after the launch of the digital terrestrial television network in Norway, replacing ZTV which ceased broadcasting shortly before. The channel opened with the European Championship qualifying match between Moldova and Norway. Its main focus is on entertainment, sports and documentaries, transmitting series such as Most Shocking, Stargate Atlantis, The 4400, Star Trek, The Simpsons, Family Guy, The Riches, UEFA Champions League matches and Futurama, with short news bulletins from P4 on weeknights. National Geographic Channel Scandinavia
National Geographic Channel is a Nordic free-to-air television channel broadcasting documentaries and related programmes to the Nordic countries. The National Geographic was launched in Scandinavia in September 1997 when BSkyB launched the Sky News & Documentaries channel, carrying National Geographic between 8 p.m. and 2 p.m. (CET) with The Computer Channel between 6 and 8 p.m. and Sky News the remaining time. The broadcasting hours has since then been extended and as of 2006 the channel is broadcasting from noon to 6 a.m., showing CNBC Nordic in the morning. Programmes and continuity has English audio, with subtitles in Swedish, Finnish, Danish and Norwegian. Advertising has sound in different languages. TV 2 (''TV to'') is a Norwegian terrestrial television channel. Its headquarters are located in Bergen. TV 2 began test broadcasting on 13 November 1991, and a year later, it was officially launched on 5 September 1992, becoming Norway's first commercial free-to-air television channel. In 1992, TV 2 A/S was admitted as full active member of the European Broadcasting Union. As is common with television (and cinema) in Norway, most foreign-language shows and segments of local programmes with foreign language dialogues (e.g. interviews with foreigners) are subtitled in Norwegian, not dubbed (with a notable exception being children's programmes). Digital terrestrial television (DTTV or DTT, or DTTB with "broadcasting") is a technology for terrestrial television in which land-based (terrestrial) television stations broadcast television content by radio waves to televisions in consumers' residences in a digital format. DTTV is a major technological advance over the previous analog television, and has largely replaced analog which had been in common use since the middle of the 20th century. NRK Super
NRK Super is a Norwegian TV & radio channel aimed at children, run by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. The TV channel is broadcast on the digital terrestrial network, on the same frequency as NRK3 from 7am to 7pm, and was launched 1 December 2007. The NRK Super radio channel is broadcast on DAB radio (from 6am to 9pm) and the internet, and was originally named NRK Barn (''NRK Children'' in English). It was launched on 16 October 2007. NRK Super also has a web community where children can sign up and play games that allow them to get their own profile and get friends online. Here also small children can visit the homepages of shows they have seen on TV, such like Fantorangen, Tøfferud ( Chuggington), Komet Kameratene, and others. C More Hits is a Scandinavian premium television channel showing movies and TV shows. The channel shows big blockbusters, independent movies, classic movies, movies from the whole world and erotic movies. The channel was launched as ''Canal+ Film 2'' on 1 May 2004. On 1 November 2007 it changed its name to ''Canal+ Hits'' as part of a larger reorganization of the Canal+ channels. In the Swedish feed, it timeshares with Canal+ Sport 2 which broadcasts a few games in the weekend. In the Norwegian and Finnish network the channel is however broadcast in full. C More Sport is a Scandinavian pay television sports network owned by C More Entertainment. It was launched as the Nordic version of ''Canal+ Sport'' on 1 May 2004, when C More introduced themed channels for movies and sports. TV 2 Nyheter (''TV 2 News'') is a 24-hour Norwegian language television news channel which started broadcasting on 15 January 2007. It is Norway's first national news network in Norwegian, although Nyhetskanalen did exist from 1997 to 1998. The channel's main newsroom is located in Bergen. Programming Weekdays The channel has broadcasts with presenters in the studio from 06:00 to 22:30. However the newsroom is manned the whole day and thus, the channel can quickly go on air at the last minute in case news breaks during the night. Through the night, the day's news items are non-stop in Nyhetshjulet. At the same time, a news ticker rolls across the bottom of the screen all day with updates from NTB, TV 2 Nyhetene, TV 2 Sporten, and NA24.no. Viasat Sport N ("N" as in "Norway") was the name of a former sports channel which broadcast to Norway. The channel launched on 29 November 2005, as a replacement for the then pan-Nordic Viasat Sport 1 channel in Norway. Disney Channel is a Scandinavian children's channel owned and operated by The Walt Disney Company Limited, broadcasting in the Nordic and Baltic countries.
