Richlands High School (Virginia)
Richlands High School is located in Richlands, Virginia in Tazewell County. Athletic teams compete in the Virginia High School League's AA Southwest District in Region IV. Academics *The 2006 History TCAC (Tazewell County Academic Competition) team won their competition. *The 2007 Science TCAC team tied with the Tazewell Team (4–2) but in the end Tazewell had more points giving them the trophy. Cedar Bluff is a town in Tazewell County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,139 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bluefield, WV-VA micropolitan area, which has a population of 107,578. Tazewell County () is a county located in the southwestern portion of the U.S. state of Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 40,429. Its county seat is Tazewell. Tazewell County is part of the Bluefield, WV-VA Micropolitan Statistical Area. Its economy was dependent on coal and iron of the Pocahontas Fields from the late 19th into the 20th century. The Marshall Thundering Herd football team is an intercollegiate varsity sports program of Marshall University. The team represents the university as a member of the Sun Belt Conference East Division of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, playing at the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision level. Marshall plays at Joan C. Edwards Stadium, which seats 38,227 and is expandable to 55,000. At the end of the 2021 football season, Marshall had a 177–42 record at Joan C. Devon Johnson
Devon Johnson (July 28, 1993 – November 6, 2018) was an American football running back and fullback. He played college football for Marshall and was signed by the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in , although he did not play for the latter. Johnson died at the age of 25 on November 6, 2018. Early life and education Johnson was born on July 28, 1993, and grew up in Richlands, Virginia. He attended Richlands High School, and as a junior rushed for over 1,400 yards and scored 22 touchdowns, leading the school to the Group AA Division 3 state title game. Richard Cranwell
Charles Richard "Dick" Cranwell (born July 26, 1942) is an American lawyer and Democratic Party politician. He was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates 1972–2001, and was its Democratic floor leader 1991–2001. From 2005 to 2010, he was chairman of the Democratic Party of Virginia.
