Richard Pearce (actor)
Richard Pearce is a British voice actor. Pearce has appeared in over 500 radio dramas and was twice a member of the BBC Radio drama company. He played opposite Sir John Gielgud in ''Tales My Father Taught Me'' and in a variety of radio parts ranging from The Mekon in '' Dan Dare'' to the last castrato in ''The Angel of Rome''. In 1992 and 1993, Pearce appeared in the BBC Radio adaptation of ''The Adventures of Tintin'', playing the eponymous hero. ''Numbertime'' is a BBC educational numeracy television series for primary schools that was aired on BBC Two from 20 September 1993 to 3 December 2001. For its first four series, it was presented by Lolita Chakrabarti. El Nombre, an animated character used throughout the series, eventually became the concept for his own educational BBC children's television program; his name means "The Name" in Spanish, and not "The Number", which would be "El Número". ''The Faraway Tree'' is a series of popular novels for children by British author Enid Blyton.
