Rhona Adair
Rhona Kathleen Adair (2 September 1881 – 27 March 1961) was an Irish amateur golfer. She won the British Ladies Amateur twice and the Irish Ladies' Close Championships four times at the start of the twentieth century. Life Adair was born in Cookstown, County Tyrone, Ireland. She was the daughter of keen golfers Hugh Adair and (Mary) Augusta Lee Adair (née Graves). Her father manufactured linen but he and her mother captained golf teams. Along with May Hezlet, Adair is the most famous Irish golfer from the turn of the 20th century. She was 17 years of age when she played in her first British Ladies Amateur in 1895. In 1899 she nearly beat the 77 year old "Old Tom Morris" who had designed the St Andrews Links where they were playing. Morris was quoted as having said "I'll no' be licked by a lassie", but only won on the final green. Adair went on to win the British Ladies Amateur in 1900 and again in 1903. Rhona Martin
Rhona Howie, MBE (born 12 October 1966, Ayrshire), better known under her married name, Rhona Martin, is a British curler most famous for skipping the British women's team at the 2002 Winter Olympics, where the team claimed the gold medal. She has also skipped for the Scotland curling team at both the World and European Championships. Career Early career Martin was long known in Scottish curling circles for her uncanny knack of repeatedly failing to win the national championships at the final hurdle, but finally won the right to appear in a major international championship in 1998, where she was skip of the Scotland team that won a silver medal at the European Curling Championships. Rhona K. M. Smith is a British legal academic. She is professor of international human rights and former head of Newcastle Law School at Newcastle University and is the United Nations special rapporteur for Cambodia. Smith was criticised by the Cambodian government for behaving like a "teacher in a classroom". Smith had questioned the 2018 elections where Cambodian People’s Party had taken all 125 seats. Rhona Isabel Simpson (born 14 July 1972 in Paisley, Renfrewshire) is a field hockey player from Scotland who has played for her country over 280 times. By 2014 she was Scotland’s most-capped hockey player and top goal scorer. Simpson started playing hockey at the age of 12 as part of the curriculum at her school, Wellington School, Ayr. She went on to be selected for the South West District Team. She twice represented Great Britain at the Summer Olympics (1996 and 2000). Alice Gwendoline Rhona Haszard (1901–1931) was a New Zealand artist. Biography Haszard was born in Thames, New Zealand, one of the five children of Alice (née Wily), and Henry Douglas Morpeth Haszard, a surveyor, who worked for the Lands and Survey Department, later becoming a Commissioner of Crown Lands in 1910. As a result of her father's job the family moved often and lived in Auckland, Christchurch, Hokitika and Invercargill.
