The Regions of Venezuela ( es, Regiones de Venezuela) are two groupings of Venezuela's states, capital district, and federal dependencies. Venezuela's natural regions (''Regiones naturales'') are divided by natural geography, and administrative regions (''Regiones político-administrativas'') are delineated for the purpose of regional administration. Natural regions Natural regions (''Regiones naturales'') are grouped based on a natural region, regardless of population or development, and formed from geo-physical criteria such as geological constitution, relief, climate, hydrography, vegetation, soils, and others. The Insular Region (''Región Insular'') is one of the eight natural regions of Venezuela and one of the 10 administrative regions in which Venezuela was divided for its development plans; it comprises all of the nation's islands, and is formed by the state of Nueva Esparta and the Federal Dependencies. Trujillo State
Trujillo State ( es, link=no, Estado Trujillo, ) is one of the 23 states of Venezuela. Its capital is Trujillo but the largest city is Valera. Táchira
Táchira State ( es, Estado Táchira, ) is one of the 24 states of Venezuela. The state capital is San Cristóbal. Táchira State covers a total surface area of and as of the 2011 census, had a population of 1,168,908. At the end of the 19th century, Táchira State was where oil was discovered in Venezuela. Currently, its main economic revenues come from the production of coffee and pineapple. The cattle and agricultural activities play an important role in Táchira's economy. There is also a strong industrial sector which focuses on the processing of potato, sugar, milk, and cheese and the production of textiles. The Andean Region is one of the 10 Regions of Venezuela, administrative regions in which Venezuela was divided for its development plans in 1969. Description The region is composed by the states of Mérida (state), Mérida, Táchira, Trujillo (state), Trujillo and Barinas State, Barinas and is located straddling the Andes Mountain Range.
